Forums - Gaming Discussion - This is what top-level COD competition ***ing looks like you ************s

Eurogamer

Your mental image of high-level eSports competition might be the stony faces and intense, silent concentration of two Korean StarCraft pros going at it - but, it turns out, it's not all like that at all. Eurogamer's YouTube editor Ian Higton recently visited Cologne for the Call of Duty European Championships and witnessed the explosive aggression of top COD teams first-hand. These guys are a little more in touch with their feelings, shall we say.

Check out Ian's video below for a great insight into what it's like inside the room at these events. Not safe for work or polite company...

I wouldn't expect anything less of a hardcore gamer. They are cereal business!

Is CoD always like this?

In any e-sport (SC2, LoL, CoD, etc.)

The Americans/Europeans get money over having big personalities and getting social media hits for their sponsors. Everything they do is public and hence exploitable, and they don't train enough because of the need to do marketing and stream and so on.

The Koreans/Chinese train in serious teamhouses for 12h/day, focus entirely on winning, get paid almost nothing except room and board, and aren't allowed to show personality for honour reasons. It's the team's wins that attract sponsors, not individual stars.

Typical CoD players...

I have participated in pokemon world tournaments sponsored by Nintendo before. There would pretty much be pin drop silence while a match was going on bar the occasional "eh" and you could almost cut the atmosphere with a knife because it would be so heavy. After a game, we would just shake hands, say good game and walk off to the next match. There were a few people who would shout in joy at the end of a big game, especially if there was an audience but nothing like this. Mind you, the players in the senior division were all pretty much the same age as these guys as well, so its not kids.

Plus I follow the FGC tournaments as well and even though those guys are known to be quite harsh, they are very focused and timid when it comes to professional tournaments or at least from what I have seen.

Not saying its everyone, but I find many people like this playing COD in public games as well. Maybe there's just something about COD that ignites the inner rage but I play it without having to shouts swears. Who knows, maybe it's just the people since COD has the biggest userbase.

Please, COD players are amatures compared to this:

Americans talking shit yawn...

I'm at work and watching it without sound, but i love how enthusiastically they congratulate the winning teams!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
