Umm... no?
I'm actually pleasently surprised how well received this reboot is. Look at DmC's reboot.
Before the reboot DMC was bigger than TR and now it's the opposite, although critics where on the same level (86 for both I think).
Game of the year 2017 so far:
5. Resident Evil VII
Word of mouth will pick it up. I'm thinking it will have long legs. Lara Croft has mass appeal, but the series has fallen from the peoples mind-share. I think once people here that the new Tomb Raider is incredibly good they will pick it up. I pre-ordered it, but I'm a Tomb Raider fan. I've been recommending it left and right. Several I've talked to didn't know much about the reboot until I told them how good it is. They all seemed like they were interested in it after learning about it.
I'm surprised it sold that much, the game was pretty bad

Have to agree. Tomb Raider has fallen pretty low in recent years so it will take time to build the brand into a powerhouse again. Word of mouth will give this title legs. The sales are lower than what it deserves now but it should end up with good lifetime sales.
is this a joke? The series hasnt been this popular since...hell since probably the PS1 days
C'mon Spurge... Tomb Raider isn't as popular these days as it was back in the 90's, but it's still sold pretty damn well! I wouldn't be too surprised if this game made it pass the 3m mark... 2m for sure!!

Good sales so far but still the game wasnt that good in my opinion. There is a lot of potential for the Tomb Raider Franchise and i am glad it sold that well. So there will be more Tomb Raider hopefully. But next time Square please do not take the action route again. Dont make Tomb Raider resident evil style please.
The game is awesome, it's my favorite game since Deus Ex: HR.
I'm surprised it sold that much (but not necessarily that surprised after the reviews), or after you know they said how much it sold in their forums.
