Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Would it be better for the GAMERS if Nintendo became software only?

Would it be better for the customers if Nintendo became a 3rd party?

Yes, then I wouldn't hav... 167 33.67%

No, because we need more ... 289 58.27%

Nah, it wouldn't, because Nintendo games would look absolutely terrible next to the big AAA heavy hitters on PS and Xbox. Nintendo just recently discovered what HD graphics are... imagine the next Zelda trying to compete with the next Elder Scrolls or the next Fable.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

This is an excellent idea but discussed in an earlier thread.

My personal opinion is that there needs to be two competing hardware platforms.

Nintendo's power is in their IP. Why not leverage that into way more households than those that own a Nintendo console.

I'm looking at WiiU's sales and seeing a LOT of people who are not buying that should be buying.  They sold THIRTY THOUSAND consoles WORLD WIDE last week...if that isn't creeping the fripping hell out of Nintendo, I do not know what does.

I have to say didn't see WiiU dropping under 50k in any week.  It's new, it's interesting, and Nintendo brings fun.

Is it the advertising or is it too complex for what has become what people think is the default Nintendo user...the casual gamer?

I would love for that to happen, but more competition is better.

They seriously should stop making home consoles and just make a beast handheld next gen and make it possible to hook up to a TV for a big screen experience. Instead of making Nintendo games for 2 systems at a time just make double the games for 1 amazing handheld!! BAM!! I bet they do this next gen fo sho!!!

The Wii U sales are up there with the PS2 & Wii. The Wii & PS2 didn't do that much better then the Wii U in the first 6 months, and we still have time to go.

But the PS3 & 360 sales are pretty low from beginning to end.

For everyone that is sayin YES... all that means is that you recognize that Nintendo makes good games, so why then do you not support their consoles?

Because they make terrible hardware, especially compared to their competitors

I can buy nintendo land on the PS4, I cannot buy Killzone Shadowfall on the Wii U

I can buy Monster Hunter 4 on Vita, I cannot buy Wipeout 2048 on 3DS

I remember an earlier thread where Nintendo fans were talking about 3rd party support on wii, suggesting that people would buy the mass downgrade of games if only they would make them.......why though? when the better hardware of the competitors come with no sacrifice to the developers( who have ambition) vision. So you can play the next Mario which can be made everywhere else?

....What?

Of the big three hardware manufacturers, Nintendo is the last one that should exit the hardware game.

Nintendo does far more with its hardware than either Sony or Microsoft. It innovates with its consoles, its controllers, and its accessories, and it creates new ways to experience hardware and software in tandem.

Consoles need Nintendo because they're the only company that innovates in the hardware. In this theoretical scenario where Nintendo isn't around (argued better for the gamer), MS or Sony don't have any business making consoles, either. Just have all the games on PC's and we'll all be happy.

A small part of me says yes, but for the most part I like the idea of Nintendo focusing on one platform instead of having to make multiplatform games. I will admit, I HATE their hardware choices after the Gamecube. Nevertheless, they make good games and they shine since they are exclusives.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
