Forums - Gaming Discussion - "Biggest drop in quality" sequels

Just did a thread on the sequels that made the biggest improvement on their predecessors, so now for one on the sequels that represented the biggest decrease in quality over their predecessors.

Which games would you give this "honor" to?

Around the Network

the game that came after need for speed undergournd 2
Black ops1 and then black ops 2. both are 2 piles of shit

Edit : assasin's creed revelations, brotherhood was worse than AC2, but it was still good. ACR was just bad though

Super Mario Galaxy 2 imo

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

Super Paper Mario.

I think Jak II represented a noticeable drop in quality from its predecessor. Not a bad game by any means, but just not as great as the first installment.

I would say Perfect Dark Zero, but there's a GBC game in between it and Perfect Dark for N64.

Edit: I forget Duke Nukem Forever. I think that one takes the prize.

Yoshi's Island DS... the look of the original was there, but the feel and charm was not.

Super Mario Sunshine... we waited 6 years after Super Mario 64 for this?!?

Burnout Paradise... open world racing is all fine and dandy, but where the hell is Crash Mode?!? Huge missed opportunity there.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Resident Evil 4 > Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 5 > Resident Evil 6
Final Fantasy XIII > Final Fantasy XIII-2
Metal Gear Solid > Metal Gear Solid 2
Fallout 3 > Fallout: New Vegas
Sonic Adventure 2 > Sonic Heroes

Fuck no, Need for Speed Underground 2 is the best racing game... Ever.

The perfect answer to this thread would be Dragon Age: Origins to Dragon Age 2. Literally everything that was fantastic in the original was raped, burned, raped again and pissed on for DA2.

Anything after Burnout Revenge.

NFS series after Underground 2.

That game, the GBC one, was REALLY good. One of the best for the system, but was never given the proper attention... So I'd say that your choice is still valid.

I would say there was a drop from FFVI to FFVII, and again from FFIX to FFX.

And from Wind Waker to Twilight Princess. I mean, TP was (is) a great game, but the feeling was different. Certainly not as enjoyable as Wind Waker.

And let's not forget: Every Super Mario RPG sequel.
