This is capitalism--you either sink or swim. It is not my responsibility to find new and creative ways to keep a company in business. The same way it is not the government's responsibility to find new and creative ways to keep a dollar in my pocket. If I mismanage my funds then I pay the price, the same is to be said for any company. Square went bankrupt because of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. They made a bad decision and it cost them into a merger with Enix. If you cannot afford to spend $120M dollars then you should not spend it. If you take a gamble and lose then that is your problem, not mine. There are a number of small studios that have stayed in business because they have made good business decisions. The used game market is a legitimate industry. If you have a problem with it then you also have a problem with capitalism. As a consumer I determine what value my dollar holds. As long as I am going through legitimate channels there should not be a problem which product I choose.

Infrastructer has always been massive jobs programs and also moves products quicker to their destination. Time is money and the faster it gets there, the faster transactions happen, the more money is made. Plus the people doing the work make good money, then go out and spend that extra money. Goverment is a jobs program in a sense. With out a goverment you have no market. They decide the rules and what you make, the acceptable treatment and the works. So don't go telling me about politics.

The software company can make their own rules with their own products. I hate when people use the capitalism comment. you don't even know what  real capitalist is do you? It's a person who lives off investments. If the goverment don't put in rules I can come take all there money and if there is no rules, whos going to stop me. The free market is a two word sound bite made for dumb people. C'mon. There is no such thing. Free market would mean no rules. Meaning I just take your money. Now before you come on a rant about capitalism, learn some sh-t first.

You do not know anything about me so before you choose to point your finger and name someone as stupid perhaps you should first look into the mirror.  Clearly you do not understand the concept of capitalism which the dictionary definition is as follows: Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of capital goods and the means of production, with the creation of goods and services for profit. Elements central to capitalism include capital accumulation, competitive markets, and a price system.  The used game market is a compeitive market--not a market disruptor as you would like people to believe.  You can have whatever opinion you want but that is all it is so stop trying to spout it as factual evidence.

I don't buy video games at Gamestop and I haven't for years. However, it has nothing to do with the fact they sell used game. And honestly, I don't think used games are hurting the industry. I also haven't sold many games back, only a few that I didn't really like. But since I bought them, they are mine to do with what I wish and if I want to sell them back for money, to buy new or used games, I have every right to.

I've bought a lot of my games new, but also a lot used, especially the ones that you can no longer purchase brand new any longer. And I honestly think you (the topic creator) are being quite insulting and rude towards those of us who buy used games. I buy used games because sometimes I can't afford to pay the price they are selling for brand new, or like I said before, some of the games I want are no longer being sold used. But just because a person can't afford to buy every single game they want brand new does not they shouldn't be gamers.

People have the right to buy used games. It's not hurting the industry.

He said capitalist, not capitalism. So maybe you need to take that look in the mirror buddy. nice  example but that is not what he said at all. Your just broke and can't even afford the code idea he had. Whats that a extra 10-15$ out of your pocket or gamestops if you do sell it . I got his point, why couldn't you?

Looks like my code idea might be better than what we might get.

I don't get why people bother to sell their games, you don't get shit for them. I'd rather keep them in my collection, especially considering the crazy mark-up stores like Gamestop add to the them when they resell and they can keep reselling the same copy if it comes back in again.
Its shady at best, I don't appreciate selling a game for 4$ only to find it on a shelf costing 30$ the day after.

you only see the used games put down to $5 dollars less than that of a new copy. sometimes I see used games  at gamestop  for more than new older games at best buy or wal-mart. I always buy new. I think they should allow a little more indepth demo's, So people can choose wheather or not they want to buy them. Games that are not that long or worth the money should be knocked down.

Yeah, I went looking everywhere for Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3, it retailed for 300NOK brand new in stores but was nowhere to be found, I ended up buying one at Gamestop for 470NOK, that's almost a 60% mark-up over new retail price for a used title.

The worst part? The copy was defective, stops functioning at a certain level and I can't finish the game. Why didn't I buy the insurance? Because it would add another 50NOK on the ridiculous price and Blu-ray discs aren't known for scratching at any rate.

Let them fail then. You can't handle the customer havng rights, you don't deserve to be in business.
