Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Toon graphics for (ground-up) Wii U Zelda would be a terrible idea

I'd much prefer the art style picked through artistic ambition as opposed to trying to score an extra mill in unit sales.

I'd also add that your sales correlation between the artstyle choices is anything but conclusive. Ocarina of time is still regarded as the best game of all time (by many), it was revolutionary experience at the time, hence its sales. Twilight princess was a wii launch title and greatly benefited from being the wii's must have game. Plus the dual installbase of both wii+Gamecube.

I would personally love to see what insane visuals could be created with the power of the wii U and very abstract art design. The only style I really don't want to see is a repeat of windwakers style. Although I love the way it looks, I think it would be a wasted opportunity to try something which zelda hasn't done in the past; near photorealism or something completely new.

Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game... but when talking artistic design, Skyward Sword is done very well given the graphical restraints of the Wii. If the E3 demo is anything like what Nintendo will be doing for the next entry, count me in!

Yea, he did meantion multiplayer. But I doubt he'll follow through, since dissapointment seems to be the general theme of his zelda games.

I don't think it will be cell shaded period. It will go back to the style of Twilight Princess and OoT because Nintendo knows that's what sells.

The cell shaded Wind Waker remake is likely the olive branch to people who prefer that style, like a "hey we're not going to make a full game out of this style, but here's something we whipped up in six months" type deal.

Aww man, no, just no. As much as I don't care about graphics in a game, SS is in no way one of the best looking games of all time. It looks worse than TP, texture and geometry wise, and no art style can cover that. 



Yep they did say they are experimenting with styles.
