I'd much prefer the art style picked through artistic ambition as opposed to trying to score an extra mill in unit sales.
I'd also add that your sales correlation between the artstyle choices is anything but conclusive. Ocarina of time is still regarded as the best game of all time (by many), it was revolutionary experience at the time, hence its sales. Twilight princess was a wii launch title and greatly benefited from being the wii's must have game. Plus the dual installbase of both wii+Gamecube.
I would personally love to see what insane visuals could be created with the power of the wii U and very abstract art design. The only style I really don't want to see is a repeat of windwakers style. Although I love the way it looks, I think it would be a wasted opportunity to try something which zelda hasn't done in the past; near photorealism or something completely new.
