Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo doesn't want third parties on the WiiU

Nintendo should venture into other business interests like they had in the past. For example, a restaurant or better yet, a bakery. I would not mind eating the Triforce of Wisdom out of Zelda's cake.

 Let's get this rolling.

I completely agree. The third parties are worthless to Nintendo and will just cause more damage. Didn't NoA say that they were glad that Tomb Raider was not coming to the Wii U, since they thought it was trash. Well there you have it, take this as a warning Third Parties.

*shrug*. After that nintendo direct the other week I suddenly find myself caring a lot less but whoever stays on board is a bonus. Capcom are probably going to stay since monster hunter was a success.

Competition? What competition?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Considering Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, MH 3 Ultimate, Rayman Legends (this may become a multiplat in the future), Lego City Undercover, Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei, and maybe some surprises in the future I think Nintendo is focusing on getting third party exclusive games rather than multiplats. Whether you consider that a good or bad thing is up to your opinion.

If this were true, they they'd need to follow that up with a far lower pricing model. Otherwise they need the higher amount of total content to make it appealing to those who like but could live without Nintendo IPs vs those who have to have the mario/zelda game and also want the 3rd party game.

GOOD THING! They seem to attack the types of games I play but I don't know if it is me or if they believe their fanbase as a whole can appreciate these types of approaches. I think collaborations like nintendo vs capcom would not only make their system look way more appealing but it would give you the best of both worlds. Third party exclusives are getting rarer these days anyway and having permament exclusives definitely makes your system look better.

An interesting theory, but Nintendo's move away from novel control schemes and back towards dual analog thumbsticks suggests otherwise.

Yuppers. Nintendo seems to crave third-party support now more than ever.

Imagine for a moment, if you will that Sony and Microsoft had the first party franchises that Nintendo owns, would they want as many third parties as that get now on their systems?? No, I didnt think so either because the video game industry, as many people often forget, is a business and these companies want to make more money. Nintendo isnt as depend on third party studies like the other two are, and us don't need to have as much third party support. Having this discussion is kinda of pointless and the people trying to make this argument again the Wii U dont have much of a leg to stand on.

I disagree. But since Western 3rd parties, aside from Ubisoft, probably won´t release their main titles on the Wii U, Nintendo is better off forming partnerships with Japanese developers (like they´re doing with Platinum), seeking the 'next Retro' and more importantly, try to find a way to keep the drought for 1st party titles to minimum.
