It looks like it'll be pretty good. I can't imagine the Wii version though since a lot of the stuff they talk about in the previews likely won't be able to be done on it.

Nice stealth "Wii is underpowered" troll there legend11. That's your second today.

I am just honestly curious how they're going to adapt the game to the Wii.  Did you watch the videos that the first poster linked to?

Except I'm pretty sure you knew the game was coming out on the PS2 as well Legend.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

You apparently missed me saying it'd be crap too.

This game pushes the new particle physics system and new AI, and it was in development for 360 and PS3 only. There was a separate team putting the game out for PS2 and DS.

If this game came to Wii, before, I'd be quite sure that it'd be a PS2 port. Now, it might be a very well enhanced PS2 port with lots of Wii features...but it's still not going to be the same game as the PS3 and 360 versions.

Maybe the Wii can handle the advanced features of the PS3 and 360 versions.  But I say no.  DMM and Euphoria are things the Wii probably cannot handle...it's a matter of churning out numbers and a high number of particles.  And while the team could MAYBE get it working on the Wii, I doubt they'd try, and they'd likely cash in a PS2 port, which is why I'm not excited for the Wii version.  The only thing that could save it was I think an interview about the Wii version, where they emphasized that they were working on motion controls, which would be good.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Yeah, but he and Ben have a point.  The whole appeal of this game is the technology system they are using to make it work.  Clearly the Wii won't be running that system, so it will be a different game.  Whether that game will be good or not remains to be seen... it's worrying that it's being ported from the PS2 version.

I didn't miss it. You said "I wouldn't expect the Wii version to be anything good." Fair enough. Legend11 said "I can't imagine the Wii version though since a lot of the stuff they talk about in the previews likely won't be able to be done on it." That's implicitly saying the Wii doesn't have enough power to support the game properly, although the other versions look like they'll be "pretty good". Am I reading too much into it? Help me out here Ben.

No, I'm backing Legend on this one. You're reading too much into what he said. He's right that the Wii version won't be the same. We know that. It's nothing on the Wii, but it's just using different technology, and it's normal for him to question what they will do to define the Wii (and PS2) version since it won't be using the technology that creates the appeal of the HD versions.

Fair enough. I'm not sure what the appeal of the HD versions or the non-versions will be. I'm guessing it will be gameplay but everyone has different tastes.

The biggest draw for this game is the DMM particle system, where things break like they should...and the Euphoria AI, where Stormtroopers will cling to a pipe or bar to save their life, and will reach for a gun if it's near them, etc.

Obviously it's not the whole game, but it's pretty much all they've been advertising when showing the game.

So assuming the PS2 and Wii versions don't have those technologies...well...it's simply a different game, either with dumber AI or just different stuff altogether.

I'm not saying it's guaranteed to be bad. I'm saying I think the PS2 and Wii versions are considered 2nd priority for the game team, and 2nd priority games rarely are anything special.

Like I said, the thing that could redeem the Wii version would be a solid lightsaber motion control system. Doesn't have to be 1:1, but fun. That's how I see it having a chance against the other versions.

I'm a Wii supporter, but not everything is possible on this system. When a game is designed for other systems with faster processors, etc, you can't just port it down without losing something.

The PS2 and Wii versions aren't from the same developer.  They were outsourced to someone else.  Can't remember who off the top of my head.  I agree though that a good motion control system could make me buy two versions of this game (Wii and PC).

Too early to tell for me. But I'm intrigued.

Yeah, I'm starting to give it a chance... or trying to. Just hard to accept the concept, which is dumb IMO. If it's good, I'll get the PC version.

Yep, not to mention the Force is rising quicker in power levels then a character in DBZ. What with the pulling star destroyers out of the air.

Kinda makes the empires losses to the rebellion look like Darth Vader is an idiot. Why get in a tie fighter when you can apparently crash their battleships into each other? If you can do that you should be able to crush starfighters with your fingers, no?

Next Starwars game will likely involve sith lords pulling planets out of rotation making the death stars pointless.

I just might be pissed that i can't get KOTOR to run on Vista though.
