As we await news for the reveal of PS4 on Feb 20th i have a question. Why do alot of people think this will destroy wii u/ and nextbox? I mean people are already talkin a if no one will buy anything except for a PS4. Especially Nintendo wont stand up to them! Why?

Lets just take a look at the past, Sony destroyed all competition in its first two gens, then came its third. I remember everyone saying PS3 will make Nintendo Pack their bags that gen, Xbox is no competition! Then PSP came out which was actually amazing for its time! Holding its own, then and finally Vita came out! This was the most ridiculous statements i ever heard in gaming. "Its gonna destroy 3DS, Its better piece of tech than that piece of ****, Vita will take Nintendo spot and cuz of ipads, etc, nintendo wont have a handheld market! 3DS is destroying Vita in terms of sales despite Vita actual having amazing specs!

Now here we are and im not saying dont get hype and all but to call out the other 2 especially Nintendo and declaring its over before its begun? Now just stop it, After PS4 and Nextbox launches we will and should be able to judge all of them by a year standard!

Just wanted to note i think Wii U will be last in terms of sales but not by that much! And if by chance Nintendo wins, Then 8 years from now people do the same thing gen after the next!

Crazy, I know, Discuss on this topic...

Who thinks that?

From what i've seen, more bets are on Microsoft as they'll be the ones to really try to push hardware innovation and cross-market accessibility, though you can't count Nintendo out.

Sony, meanwhile, seems to have a hard time learning lessons (see: Vita)

imagine a world where Sony does PS2 all over again.

Some People post say this (so many threads on PS4 so its there!) and also analyst and articles are stating this even before the announcement yesterday!

For some I think it's more personal desire than pure belief it will "destroy" the competition, and that's fine, everyone has their favourite platform holder and is entitled to that.

And for those that really believe it will smash the competition... well.

didn't DS do that last gen already but better lol

one bad gen out of three ain't so bad, plus the ps3 is not even that far from the competition, I mean why is it so far-fetched to think Sony might dominate again

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Wishful thinking. MSONY will split next generation...again, while Nintendo gobbles the scraps. Basically, Wii U will be a distant third while MSONY dominate the market.

Don't insult GameCube like that: it had its best-selling title released by this point in it's life

But seriously, Wii U will do much better, not only in terms of sales but in terms of market-share, than GameCube, even if some of the parallels are there, Nintendo's in a much stronger position right now than in the early GC days.
