How much do they cost there?
You can get here in Austria/Germany a really big Full HD TV with 3D and Online possibilities for around 400€(and cheaper depends on size) when there are sales going on.
And nearly every big electronic company here is offering at least once per month something like that.
This is why i don't understand the fear of "expensive" 4k/8k TVs
Japan is doing it and with 2014 they even start to air TV shows in that quality.
Only negative thing here > Our TV Program is garbage. We need shows from outside,BluRays or HD Streams if we want them to use for more than gaming cause paying 60 for garbage shows of our countries isn't worth it.You get everything you need from the internet so at least my TV is acting as a 4th PC Monitor right now so i can watch the shows i like in HD ~.~

I honestly can't see this being a killer ap. It seems too colourful and cheesy for the brooding dudebros who need to play grey-and-brown gorefests to make themselves feel like men, but without the kind of hook that would grab droves of casuals. That's not to say it won't do well, but I have trouble imagining people by the millions running out to buy Wii Us to play it.

Well its the type of game Nintendo core players go for games that know they are games.

True, and I reckon it can crack a million, but I just don't see that extra special something that would propel it to system seller status.

Yeah, I don't see it moving a ton of consoles but it could prove to be a sleeper hit with the critics.
Hey, Nintendo, here's a thought: put some freak'n money behind it with some advertising so it doesn't go unnoticed (unlike poor ZombiU).

That seems like what Iwata has in mind when he stated that he has no intension of lowering the price of the WiiU. He said that the value of the console needed to be communicated better. i.e. better advertising. I guess they had started. The following days when ever I tried to pull some gaming videos from Youtube I usally had the advertisment to come and watch the Nintendo Direct pop up before hand. Whether they continue to do so remain the question. They have the right idea in that just carpet bombing TV isn't the answer. Lower cost approaches that target where the target audience is does better.
Plus bring in software, but we will have to wait for the next ND for that.
KHlover said: Yeah, also like that in Germany. With the difference that we have to pay 50€ (68$) per year to be able to watch most channels in HD (most of the stuff is only upscaled from 480p to 720p though -_-). However, you still won't be able to buy a 720p television at most places. For a 32" TV (1080p) you have to pay ~320€ ( 435$),taxes included, what would a comparable TV with 720p cost in the US? |
You only pay 68$ a month for an HD TV Package in Germany? Lucky.
For a game like Pikmin, which is the Wonderful 101, 60 FPS seems necessary.
