Forums - Gaming Discussion - Did you know about the original XBOX before the 360?

It explains how difficult MS tried to introduce X360 to the markets that original Xbox didn't get any attention from gamers due to PS2's dominance. Till today, it is still yet solved by MS especially in mainland Europe. Anyway, Xbox brand keeps growing. And it makes me feel pleased.

Yes, I knew about it since 2000 and was very excited, buying magazines to hear more about it every month. The name sounded cool, "the Xbox".
However as it launched and time passed I lost interest. At that time I was a fan of colorful games and the Xbox did not have those.

The original Xbox had more colorful games than PS2.

I don't think so.

Do some research than comeback i dare you to say the same thing.

I don't remember the xbox1 for its colorful games.

Yes, but it literally only had Halo to play. 360 is the much better console.

I knew about it and played it some. It was a clunky device. Controllers were awkward.

Original controller sucked... S Controller was decent.

They weren't really hardcore gamers then... or weren't born yet.

To this day I've never seen an xbox. Knew one person who had one and of course had heard about Halo.

Amazing to think that today in the UK we generally refer to a gaming console as an xbox.

Oh, how awesome the original XBOX was... games like KOTOR 1/2 and Pirates of the Carribean, Halo 2... so awesome... humm... beyond that I actually only remember Halo 1 (which wasn't that great) and some racing games...

Alot of people i know didn't know about the original Xbox even most of the hardcore Xbox fans i met didn't know about it.  They think that the Xbox360 is Microsoft's first video game console.

Oh yes, I had an Xbox and loved it. I got it, like everyone else who owned one, because of Halo. But I got it midway through it's lifecycle, so they'd released normal sized controllers by then. If I had looked into it when it only had "the duke", it may have been a tough sell.

To those who say it had no other games aside from Halo... maybe at launch? But it's lineup picked up WAY faster than PS3's did.

And I think of Ninja Gaiden... it looked amazing for last Gen... it's graphics were on par with some of the PS3 launch titles.

I still remember all the Taco Bell promotions, reminded me a lot of the N64 launch in that respect.

Never owned a Xbox myself, but had a few Xbox fanboy friends. I was a bigger fan ofthe Gamecube and PS2, but I'll admit there was an obvious advantage in visuals of multiplatform games on the console, and the early support from SEGA had me thinking it was going to be like a Dreamcast 2 in spirit... then like all the Japanese support dropped at once and it ended up being a very dull console imo.

People still think Xbox 1 was last place.....it beat gamecube.

But offcourse I have. It was a beast of a console. That was when hardware specs didn't matter. Now they do apparently. Wonder what changed ;)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
