Forums - Sony Discussion - Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time Price Drop - $39.99 Day 1 Price - "Makes it a No-Brainer Purchase"

i don't get people... always complaining games are expensive... when the price drop for a game from a great dev and a great franchise, people still complain. LOL
its the decline part of this generation, publishers and dev team want to sell loads of copies, i say smart move...

Okay, so does anyone with intimate knowledge of the situation know how profitable a $39.99 PS3 game is if the development costs are the same as if the game were $59.99? Does Sly 4 stand to make any money at that price, or merely break even

sly can make millions in profit with this price.

sly 4 stand to make profit if sells enough for that, as it also stand for break even if sells enough for that and also stands for a loss if doesn't sell enough. the initial price only defines the number of copies needed to achieve profitability, not the out come of profitability.

Even if I know this is PR backwards talk, it does help me seal the deal on my purchase. I simply have bigger better games to worry about getting such as NiNoKuni, DmC, etc. So this being cheaper with Crossbuy as well makes it a much more tantilizing purchase. More Video Games on consoles need to be like this.

Games like Vanquish, or Smart As, totally solid and fun games......yet simply not worth full retail price, no matter how good they are. If they had been lower from the start, they might have done better cuz regardless of the price, most of a game's sales are going to be in it's first few weeks. If the price is more appealing at the outset, that means more sales over all. Patapon understood this. Small fun game for PSP, debuted at 19.99 like it should have. It sold really well.

Some people can never be positive and all they can do is to complain.

The price is not why Sony games did not sell. Stupid decision for them.

Yes the one thing they do that benefit gamers is a stupid decision. You can't win with you people.

Interesting ppsychology from people here. People complain about $60 day one MSRP yet when someone goes lower immediate reaction is suspicion. This was always a wait and see for me, but nice to see price will not be an issue if it does turn out well.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

The PS3 HD collections generally retail for about £30 at launch here at UK (at least Ratchet & Jak did) and I think it's a good strategy.  Like I've said in another thread: not every game has to be either a £60 retail title or a £5 downloadable title.  There's a middle ground, and I hope more publishers embrace different price brackets.

This is good news not sure why some think the price drop is cause this game is bad. Starhawk and Twisted metal I think would have done a lot better at a $40 launch price point. I prob still wont buy at launch though just cause I went crazy and bought a ton of game at xmas.

If a game is worth it price doesn't matter.
