yea then we'll be making with titles like. you remember when consoles were doomed. do you remember when consoles existed.

you should just embrace the doom.  In fact, I think you should make a vgchartz is doomed thread.  Now that sounds like a great thread

Welcome to the club Marcus!

Seriously, it's kind of a cyclic thing. One thing I enjoy about the doom threads is, that they usually have spur a good conversation about sales and such. Other than that, the doom-topics are rather stupid.

Why should the discussion be about games? The sales topics are much more interesting - in the end, this site is pretty much the only one that focuses at that side of gaming.

@Mnemeth: Umm... I'm under the expression that MS and Sony lost quite a lot of money last gen, so the "doom" isn't that far off.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Do I have to copy and paste this to every thread?

Doomed threads are a cycle. It's like VGChartz's way of life.
New Console Releases -> Backlash -> Doom Threads -> Sells well/Doesn't sell well -> Praise Threads/More Doom Threads. And then it repeats itself.

Pie i've been a member since 2008, so think of how tierd i should be of seeing these threads. the 7th gen. is dead and the 8th gen. has yet to arrive, even with WiiU out, so this early in the 8th and this late in the 7th, doomed should be the last topic on anyones mind when it comes to consoles.

if anything, PS360 should be the peak of conversation. how did PS360 beat out the next gen. monster the is WiiU? that should be the topic. how did Sony out sell 360 during Halo wk? how did Sony win 2012 when they had no major releases? how did 360 keep its momentum and dominate a new console during the holiday season?

WiiU can't fight without competition when its competition has yet to come, unless you choose to use the stick WiiU is measured by which is Wii, and how a seemingly dead beat the 8th gen's big beast?

the cycle has started without the need for conversation when the gen. has yet to start.

there's nothing wrong with speculation, but there is no need for multiple threads about it, when the thread either has an agenda, or the thread has no agenda, but some who post in them do.

it turns into pointless conversation that need not been had, and drags out needlessly/endlessly with the initial topic being lost in the mix.

i don't need to be reminded of doom being the cycle of console gen's., but does it need to be the topic of conversation before the gen. even starts.

just make a prediction thread, post it in their, and move on to something else, but a new thread eey wk, about the same topic just worded differetly, does not need to always be talked about.

it's old, and it's time to take a break from all the doom.

Everything is doomed didn't you know. X360 and wii was doomed before it even released and then the Ps3 was doomed it's first year. PSV and 3DS was met with the same fate as being doomed on its first year. WiiU seems to be doomed as well.

Long story short, people are ridiculous. True story.

I guess I'm part of the problem since I made a thread asking why there were so many Wii U doom threads. But you are right we should stop this nonsense, although that will be impossible.

Well, last-gen all five consoles of three big manufacturers were undoomed. I'm quite surprised about this, never expected so many players could coexists. All sold more units than the NES. That's a big accomplishment. Maybe this gen we will see something similar - hopefully, that would be good for gaming at a whole.

MS made less profit thenn thught, and haveyet to recorve from the 6th gen.$8bn - the total losses made by Xbox...

i'd love to see all 4 consoles do well next gen. i think Ouya will do 10-20m slowly, and the big 3 will have no advantage over the other, and i think that's why MS is buying up studios.

@JayWood2010 i couldn't agree more

@bdbdbd i'd love to see other topic's, it doesn't always have to be about games. this is a sales site with other forum topic's right! i used it as a point of reference not to say it should be the only topic.

@gergroy i am death, i am vengence, i am the GRIMREAPER. hows that for doom?

technicaly you'er asking the same question i am. you had no agenda in making your thread. you wanted to knnow why the threads were being made. the reasons are, it was expected to outsale the PS3 and 360 and it didn't, the Wii almost out sold it during the holiday season, and it's not living up to some members expectation.

i've answered your threads question, but you are not par of the problem.

Doom threads are pretty constructive compared to the forum average. People try and argue with reference to sales figures at least.

I understand the frustration Marcus, and I definitely know where you're coming from.

VGChartz is, first and foremost, a website dedicated to video game console/handheld sales. It's going to attract those who are interested in these sales, so therefore gamrConnect is going to have a unique sales focus compared to other video game communities.

With this focus comes a whole slew of different quirks and mannerisms that make this forum one of a kind. There's some great discussion based on the data and numbers we get from the charts, there's no doubt about that (that's what lead me here in the first place). But there's also a mentality around here that says "if you're not first, you're last". There's one winner in the console and handheld charts, and the rest are, for the most part, losers. This leads to a rollercoaster of discussion... where one week your console of choice will be doing great and everything's hunky dorey, and the next it's surpassed by the competitor and doom is right at the door.

I myself got tired of the rollercoaster (and somewhat nauseous ) a couple years back, so I wanted to focus soley on games discussion (and also focus on bringing together the community). The great thing about this forums is that there's room for both gaming talk and sales talk. With that I started VGComix, the "gamrConnect Celebrates" feature, helped continue the "VGChartz/gamrConnect Most Wanted" feature, made the "______ Recommendation" threads, and started the "Top 50" feature.

So what I'm trying to say is, if you're getting tired of the rollercoaster ride of the sales-based threads, there's plenty of other niches out there in gamrConnect ready for you to participate in. Good times with good folks talking about great games.
