I understand the frustration Marcus, and I definitely know where you're coming from.

VGChartz is, first and foremost, a website dedicated to video game console/handheld sales. It's going to attract those who are interested in these sales, so therefore gamrConnect is going to have a unique sales focus compared to other video game communities.

With this focus comes a whole slew of different quirks and mannerisms that make this forum one of a kind. There's some great discussion based on the data and numbers we get from the charts, there's no doubt about that (that's what lead me here in the first place). But there's also a mentality around here that says "if you're not first, you're last". There's one winner in the console and handheld charts, and the rest are, for the most part, losers. This leads to a rollercoaster of discussion... where one week your console of choice will be doing great and everything's hunky dorey, and the next it's surpassed by the competitor and doom is right at the door.

I myself got tired of the rollercoaster (and somewhat nauseous ) a couple years back, so I wanted to focus soley on games discussion (and also focus on bringing together the community). The great thing about this forums is that there's room for both gaming talk and sales talk. With that I started VGComix, the "gamrConnect Celebrates" feature, helped continue the "VGChartz/gamrConnect Most Wanted" feature, made the "______ Recommendation" threads, and started the "Top 50" feature.

So what I'm trying to say is, if you're getting tired of the rollercoaster ride of the sales-based threads, there's plenty of other niches out there in gamrConnect ready for you to participate in. Good times with good folks talking about great games.
