Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Walking Dead VS Heavy Rain

I prefer Heavy rain, for the atmosphere and replayabillity.
The walking dead was pretty good for 1 playthrough. The first and third episode were the best, by the 4th all illusion of choice was gone and zombies turned from a threat into nothing more then a shove the plot along device.

Yes in Heavy rain there are points where the game refuses to let a character die, but I still prefer that over the silly way twd insists on killing Ben and Kenny for example. Plus in all those months nobody had figured out that all you have to do is smear some zombie blood on you to walk undisturbed between them? really?

Both Walking Dead and Heavy Rain are very overated.

If they had actual gameplay, I may have liked it more. Anybody remember the Blade Runner game, that is how you do point and click adventure games.

Great experiences on first go that did get soured on second play through when illusion of choice was shattered for the most part. I get how challenging this is in games, so I'd still suggest both for a one time play, but temper expectations on how you'll impact the game and story.

They are both good examples of point and click adventure games. The Walking Dead is a good example of a point and click down well, Heavy Rain is a good example of one done poorly.

The controls in Heavy Rain were atrocious (ugh, movement) and it also didn't help that the story was not good in any way, shape, or form, and that the characters were about as bland as bland could be. The Walking Dead on the other hand has some control issues (mainly if you're using a controller) but the characters are fantastic.

I enjoyed Heavy Rain a little bit more because it had a better "villain" twist. Not gonna go into detail, but i was completely caught off guard by Heavy Rain and enjoyed the game way more than I ever hoped.

TWD was also an amazing experience. There were plenty of time when I got a case of the "feels." Even with it's cartoonish style, the characters felt human. However, i disliked the ending and "antagonist" reveal.

Both games were constantly making me want to finish with my RL duties so i could dive back in playing but in the end, Heavy Rain ending > TWD ending. I think what set these two games apart from the rest is that nobody expected them to be such great games.

Damn this is a hard question. HR and TWD had characters I liked and hated. The story was great, I didn't even mind with the plot-holes both of them had. But thinking about it HR had more trilling moments with the gameplay and TWD had more trilling moments with the dialog. However after a few years I still remember most moments in HR and I was really hocked since its the first of its kind I've played. So HR for me :)
