Ok so lets say Aliens where to come and attack us tomorrow. After a long ass battle we lose they take us over and capture us.

Now to the question!. Would you be more happy to be their food or to be their pets?.

And no the is no 3rd option of running and fighting as in this case we have already done that and lost  .

If aliens have the tech to travel from light years away  they would squash us out in a day. Sometimes when people talk about aliens, I don't think they understand how much more advanced they will be then us.  They could be sitting right next to you and you wouldn't even sense there presence. Think about how much they would have to know to travel that far. We can't even get to mars. Our nearest star Alpha Centauri is 4 light years away. Meaning if you where traveling at the speed of light ( 186,000 miles per second or  670 616 629 miles / hour) you wouldn't make it there for 4 years. They would have to live very, very, very long or could have basically master there health and are pretty much immortal.  Or they could have  figured out how to bend time and space and use warp holes. These findings and the point that they have mastered space travel like this means they are on another level then us completely.

So they might genetically engineer us or who knows what but I suspect they might not even care about us at all. We would be so stupid to them, it's like you walking around and looking at every single ant on the ground.  Either way, what ever they wanted to do, you wouldn't have much choice in the matter.

There are other scenarios possible, like a last ditch effort to save the species from a doomsday scenario (eg Stephen Baxter's Flood/Ark) or exploration by automated ships controlled via quantum teleportation
But yes, by the time they do manage to get here they'll probably have been observing us for quite some time, and will be prepared for anything. And it is extremely unlikely that an alien race will be around the same level of technology as we are, considering the rapid advancements in knowledge versus the age of the universe. We went from rubbing sticks together to beginner space explorers in a geological blink of an eye.

The aliens will have to be immune to earth Atmosphere. The amount of bacteria, viruses and diseases swarming all over the place would kill anything out of this world I think. That is our best defense. Otherwise they'll need suits. We can kill them with aids lol

actually since the aliens will have to be a completely different form of life, i doubtv that our viruses and deseases will affect them at all.

which also begs the question if we will even work as a food source for them.

Humans and all life on Earth evolved to combat against harmful bacteria and diseases for many years, so I doubt Aliens have our immunity that we evolved to be resistant against. If someone is diagnosed with hiv/aids, a simple cold can kill them, and it would kill the Aliens faster too.

you forget that these viruses and bacteria evolved specifically to attack our biology. Alien biology has to be so vastly different that there could only be a accidental intereference, but not a direct effect

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

i would act like i'm their pet and then i would eat them.

The fact that viruses and bacteria can evolve also proves that the aliens like ourselves is not 100% immune to them. There are between 1.6 million to 40 million viruses, and 860,000 to 11 million bacteria in each cubic meter of air known on earth. I'll like to see aliens play superman against that.

Yes, there's always the possibility DNA and cell membranes as we know it are the standard for biology in the universe... probably different in the case of life evolving on a Titan-like environment but chemical reactions would be so slow there I doubt they could evolve intelligent life.

But I doubt it would be a problem to them. Humans would be a much more likely target of viruses and bacteria in the scenario proposed here. The aliens could use nanites for timed release of biological agents genetically engineered to kill us.

That's assuming they're carbon based lifeforms or still organic based at all. Even carbon based lifeforms might work completely differently.
Even if they're similar enough to us for virusses to have an effect they probably have a more advanced immune system boosted by nano technology and far more advanced medical research.

Hull zero three by Greg Bear poses a pretty realistic scenario for alien invasion. Sending a ship with an enormous gene bank that will analyze the target planet in flight and prepare the most suitable life forms to colonize it in any possible scenario including hostile invasion.

Projection I guess. As humans we can barely stand to share a planet together as it is, living together with an alien species seems out of the question.

it's just a hypothetical scenario that the op forces on us

They would most likely have mastered there health, there for viruses would have no effect.
