Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why people hated Skyward Sword?

I loved it. Amazing game. One of my fave games.

The only issues I had were:

* For 99% of the time the controls were great. But when I did the tightrope balancing thing, my remote never seemed to do it properly.

* Also there was a couple of needless fetch quests.

I feel like a lot of people really love Skyward Sword...
I really liked it, despite some serious imperfections...
I would love to not HAVE to use motion controls in the next console Zelda title...
Nintendo should embrace the concept of options...
I thought Skyward Sword would be the last incredible Wii game, but it was definitely upstaged by Xenoblade Chronicles...

Have a nice day...

I absolutely loved it. If I were to make a list of my top 10 favourite games right now, Skyward Sword would end second only to Ocarina of Time.

SS was a refreshing take on Zelda, and had both my favourite gameplay and an absolutely stunning artstyle.

1) The controls.

2) After Wind Waker, Nintendo decided to stop taking risks with mainstream console Zelda games. TP and SS were just way too similar to Ocarina of Time. For whatever reason, Nintendo has this inane reasoning that Zelda games should not waver off too far from what Ocarina of Time did- since it's considered one of the greatest games of all time, and that kind of thing.

?

TP was indeed similar to Ocarina of Time, and judging by it's sales; that worked. Ignoring FSA, SS however is the most different from OoT (console) Zelda there is. Even Wind Waker is much more similar to Ocarina of Time than Skyward Sword. SS's structure, story and gameplay is totally different.

LOVED IT. In fact, my zelda´s "triforce" is formed by: OOT, SS, WW

well the controls are the things that makes SS one of the best Zelda games. It is not just waggling like crazy, one fair swing in the right direction, and you got it. There were exploration inside the dungeons. but why not outside? because simply the world was not suitable for humans-like living, not like Ocarina of Time, that was after SS. SS fulfill its purpose, the opening of the Legend of Zelda timeline.

I liked, but more because it fixes some problems than being marvelous.

- Better rupee system. At least there's worth stuff to spend.
- A lite-RPG system upgrade. I'll like them to go in-deep for the next game.
- Enemies do more damage, althought the AI of most of them is focused on blocking "attacks", than"attacking" itself.
- Boss battles are better, Ghirahim battles have great AI.

But...

- Fi has a lot to say. Just make the next one without a companion or something like Navi-Midna.
- The Imprisioned battles were boring.

I'd prefer if Skyward Sword keeps as a standalone entry in the series, than being the way to go for future ones.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

a part from a few minor things I hated like baby tones whenever you find something new (God dammit Nintendo!) and not being able to skip/speed up text like previous games and too much hand holding, the game is amazing!

I don't like long cut scenes either so I hope that and the other things I mentioned get fixed in the next Zelda!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

You skip the cut scenes in the second playthrough, but I agree that you should be able to skip them at every moment, just like TP.

Nintendo and PC gamer

People whining about Fi have issues........

Problems with SS:

no Zelda type day/night cycle.

You can only save to 1 slot NOW (the one you started the game with)  instead of  chose either of the 3 the game offers you.....

Why does gear have to be repaired? (makes the game feel like work.... come up with a real use for rupees like buying houses and furniture or whatever instead of this crap its almost as useless as this stupid red twilight princess rupee eating armor....)

I was a bit disappointed to find out that you cannot land on skyloft without a loading screen.... its not even a big place and yet you have to load....

MAIN PROBLEM:
A few disconnected "Levels" instead of 1 world with only 1 town (skyloft) not enough variation in world design (fewer different dungeon types than earlier installments)  (the same shit happened to  Metroid Prime 3 and   Mario Galaxy they simplify the gameplay for idiots...... T.T )

The game felt like work (skyloft -> forest (which works like a dungeon now) -> real dungeon etc.)

There is to much work with not enough exploration.

Thank god there were the story cutscenes without them the game would have felt even more like work.

STUFF I LIKED:
Flying,
cool "motion enemies" (ones you have to attack form a specific angle etc.)
story/presentation
Lanayru Desert/Dungeon
