Uh wha?  Every single week, Sony is losing more ground right now.   100-200k less every...single...week.   It's not even close right now.  Sony would have to sell 2 million ps3's in a week to even pull within a million of MS.

 

I may be wrong but doesn't Sony count shipped and MS counts sold?

ok look. the gap according to vgc numbers, is 1.9 something. so 1-1.6m is possible which would cut the led by 2013 yr's end to 600k at the least.

still, i'm and optimist, but that's how i see it right now. that's why when i put predictions in my sig. i say subject to change, less i look to get a rise out this user base.

this may be one of those times? never know!

I definately don't see MS cranking out sales next year until the next gen however making up 2 million while microsoft handily owns NA almost every single week is a pretty tall order my friend.  

 

Looking at the sales, current gen MS and Sony are flattening...I personally beleive they've perhaps engorged their markets.  

 

I would KILL to get my hands on the number of sales of each console that are replacements for dead hardware.  Has anyone ever posted a thread with estimate figures?

Well i hope trolls arent just voting because of being a fan boy, This thread is for people actually predicting what the outcome will be. Im a Nintendo fanboy (i play lots of Xbox too and sony for FF games and other titles), butim not up here to troll im here to give my oppinion to i believe be on the top.

Saying that Kudos to all those that voted but actually posted why you did instead of just then leaving!

That isn't my point and I didn't vote so I don't know what the results are. in fact I usualy don't vote in these types of polls. What I'm saying is PS3 fans will vote PS3 and Xbox fans will vote Xbox. There aren't a lot of Xbox fans on this website so the PS3 fans will skew the poll. Any PS3/Xbox question poll on any website will always boil down to the number of fans for each. Sure there will be nutrual voters who consider all angles of the question before voting based on they theories. But fans will always vote for their platform of choice if for no other reason but to counter their counterparts' votes.

That's all I'm saying.

agreed, but right now the gaps haven't been that big. i think the biggest gap so far is the one on the homw page. the biggest one was 125k, but i don't remember being bigger then that.

sony easy,why would it be any dif from the previous so many years? they even have more exclusives right? theres no way sony lets ms have the e3 stage to itself for next gen just for the new naughty dog game,not gonna happen.that game is gonna sell millions no matter when you release it. and ms is not slicing off huge chunks of the ps lead over the holidays this year like previous years,its very close overall this holiday by comparison to the previous slaughterings ms was doing in past holiday seasons

Interesting. As it stands right now I favor Sony for their game development, but I always vote in polls where people ask whether Microsoft will beat Sony in the fourth quarter I always vote Microsoft. Bias should never cloud facts and Microsoft owns forth quarter. The rest of the year is questionable.

This 100 times over, as soon as there is a date set in stone for the next Ms console the sales of the 360 will absolutely dry up leaving the ps3 run away with both 2013 sales and this whole HD generation, it's just a tiny gap between the two now , but watch what happens to it when that Xbox720 is shown off.

True. I think the 720 and PS4 will be shown at E3. Can't wait!


I personally believe that Microsoft will announce the NeXbox before E3 and then showcasing it at E3.  I dont think the PS4 will be shown until either late 2013 or early 2014.  And the reason I believe that is because if they announce the PS4 to early then the PS3 will suffer with games coming out like The Last of Us and Beyond.

Last of Us launches in May. Thats the last major exclusive next to Beyond which I am sure will be out around the same time. Both consoles have their major exclusives set to come out before E3. If you've been following the movements of the dev kits the last dev kit is in January, so I am sure Sonys will be announced more so than Microsofts. Yes, Sony can last longer than the 360 but from the time period that all these games are coming out its kind of obvious both have their eyes set on something going on for the fourth quarter.


hmm, didn't know it was releasing in may.  I haven't watched any of the trailers for a while.  I was sold on the game after the first trailer so I'm trying to avoid them now because if it is anything like Uncharted 3 they will show half the game before it is even releases.  Being a May release it does make it more interesting because both Sony and Microsoft may be introducing their new console in2013
