Good points, but things won't change until ioi decided to change it (after gamewise is sorted I'd imagine).

Until then, wait for Nintendo.

Who or What is ioi?

VGChartz Chief

thanks

You SAY that, but when was the last time he was actually active on this site? Quite a while ago...hopefully he'll come back.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Vgchartz and npd cant track digital sales. Wii U us the first console where you can get whole retail games in eshop at launch.
If you read in miiverse it seems to be that many people bought games from eshop. I think without digital sales the software sales numbers are meaningless.

Ah my apologies, didn't see that. Hopefully he'll fix some of the issues on the site soon but obviously there's other stuff going on as well.

The funny thing about this is that I know who trunks is, but I'm not as smart as you when it comes to analyzing vgchartz' sales figures accuracy. You're the best person to let him know, here is his profile.

He writes almost all the sales articles his pen name is William DiAngelo I believe.

But keep talking I'm trying to follow but it's very interesting.

Thanks, I've sent him a message, specifically pointing out the cases of Madden and Ninja Gaiden 3, both of which are definitely issues, and also noting that some other titles lacking proper release dates on the system, despite being launch titles, are simultaneously lacking sales data for the appropriate regions.

lol I already made all Game DB Admins aware of the WiiU release date issues. Nearly everything should be fixed and we should be able to see the sales from now on. However it's possible that the first weeks of sales are either not counted at all (only ioi could fix this then) or they are all going to be added into one week, for example week 1-3 + week 4 = week 4

Well, hopefully that will address almost all of the issues. The only one that isn't possibly covered by that is the strange case of Ninja Gaiden 3, and its "French" sales... despite not releasing in France for another month.

OK, just thought I'd comment on the situation as it now stands.

Fixing the release dates has fixed a number of games in terms of showing current data. It's difficult to tell whether the data from the previous weeks has been included, but I think that next week's data will be informative on that front - if sales in the week ending the 22nd are comparable to those in the week ending the 15th, then the data from the first few weeks is missing, and needs to be fixed. If the week ending the 22nd is significantly lower, then the "missed" weeks were probably incorporated into the week ending the 15th.

So, here's what we have...

Madden has data, registering as 12,470 in the US and 14,671 worldwide. For comparison, FIFA 13 sold 12,524 copies in the US in its first week according to VGChartz, so I have reason to suspect that Madden's data is only for this week, but next week will be the informative one, like I said.

Not sure what's happening with FIFA 13 in Europe, but it's still strange. It sold less than 5000 in its first two weeks, but more than 5000 in the third week (5,877). Curiously, France has its first week worth of data in week 3, where it sold nearly as many as it did in Germany, where it sold about as much in the first two weeks. It has sold more in the third week in the UK than in the first two weeks combined.

Ninja Gaiden 3 is still screwy, with more France data, but no Japanese data. At least US data is now showing up, though. Also curious is that Europe data has shown up, now, and is more than just the France data for each week. Not sure where the extra data is coming from.

Assassin's Creed III still doesn't have Japanese data.

NBA 2K13 hasn't been fixed, by the looks of it. The game was available at the Wii U launch, but the release date still isn't even listed. The European date may also be wrong, but I'm having trouble finding a consistent date. GameFaqs agrees with VGChartz, Wikipedia says it should have already released, and Amazon.co.uk doesn't list the game at all. But the US date certainly needs to be added.

Darksiders II is now registering in Europe, although the numbers are around where I'd expect for week 3, not for weeks 1-3, so I'm betting that week 4 will show more than week 3, and weeks 1-2 are lost data at the moment.

Sonic racing apparently had a stronger third week in the UK, while ZombiU sales have dropped down for the time being - the week 3 sales of the two seem to be very similar, so perhaps it was just a matter of the numbers not yet stabilising, in that case.

So I think NBA 2K13's release date needs fixing, and other than that, ACIII and Ninja Gaiden 3 in Japan are an issue, since we know they're doing reasonably decently. The rest seem to have been resolved, at least in terms of ongoing data - launch data for a few are still suspect, though.

EDIT: Rabbids Land is missing from VGChartz, though. It has shown up on the Wii U chart for the UK, ahead of FIFA 13 (which sold 1400 copies last week according to VGChartz). Apparently, it was a launch title in the US, too.

It looks to me like VGChartz needs to thoroughly go through the Wii U game list, etc, and fix all of these issues up.

Probably just hiccups surrounding the launch of a new console.
