Forums - Sales Discussion - Vita has outlasted the 3ds

Great for the Vita, but are the sales matching with the price? Worldwide I won't say because I'm not so sure, but in Japan it looks like the strategy is not working at all.

Outlasted the 3DS?

I came in here expecting the shocking news that 3DS had been discontinued and the Vita was the lone handheld left in this generation.

I can interpret this as Sony being less willing than Nintendo to do what it takes to make their handheld succeed, but that's not entirely fair. 3DS also benefited from some timely exclusives, pulling it out of the hole before it could be written off as a complete failure. What Vita needs is a few more major Japanese games (Captain Obvious strikes again!). It's painful to see it doing so poorly in a market that typically adores handheld systems.

regarding the time period.
Vita would have done considerably better were
a) the console ACTUALLY 250$
b) 3ds not dropped in price, causing potential purchasers to be diverted
c) monster hunter been announced as expected

lots of unforeseen events happened along the way, don't fault people for circumstances eveolving suddenly.im

As I said, every dark cloud has a silver lining. You can find whatever excuses you want but Vita is selling less than half what Sony predicted not so long ago, they had to make temporal price cuts in Europe and huge sales during Black Friday, and they still sell less than the DS worldwide, a console that sells nothing in Japan and most parts of Europe. If you want to believe that the Vita will sell tons of hardware when Sony sells it at the $199 price point, it's up to you, but the Vita is in a much much worse place than the PSP was during its first year.

im not making excuses, im lookng to predict future sales and analze the data. I could say the opposite for you kynes(dark lining) and all but im not so insecure to argue with you. You don't even do predictions of any kind.

A pessimistic is a realistic with good information. Everything points to not so good future, but it seems that saying it makes you a hater.

Sony will be running gaikai, and with vita/ps3 linked accounts you'll likely be able to stream ps4 games through the vita.

Your talking 5 years max.

Gaikai is not useable in most places in the USA and barely in some others.

Even my office of my work which uses the best  Comcast Internet at best speeds is can barely play ps2 games at 60 frames and your thinking they will play ps4 games?

"Excuse me sir, I see you have a weapon. Why don't you put it down and let's settle this like gentlemen"  ~ max

except im predicting vita sales quite well accord ing to the countdown thread bar a hiccup grom vgc overtracking and adjustments. So maybe i can actually prove that i'm more realistic.
Don't victimize yourself, it's unsightly.

Is this really something that should be celebrated?

nah im not talking 5 years "min".

fiberoptic is taking over. Just because everyone wont be able to do it doesn't mean the option won't be there.

lol and you just demonstrated that you don't kbow a single thing about gaikai...or internet speeds for that matter. I mean what the hell are you talking about in reference to "the iinternet not playing ps2 games"???

This really doesn't seem like anything to brag about...
