why is PS4 releasing later a good thing?

Some points...

- PS3 is still powerful enough...
- PS3 not reached popular price point...
- There is a lot of games to be released next year for it...
- AMD will have more time to put a decent GPU in the A-10 APU...
- The 28nm process will be more mature (less yelds loss = less cost loss)...
- No competition with Microsoft at launch (that's a guess because I think Microsoft will launch the next box in 2014 too)

I can list more...

For me, for you... for all consumers the 2014 is a better launch than 2013.

Ps3 can do fine after ps4 is out.  I expect it reach the 199 price point by mid next year and get a lot of sold units from the 5 awesome looking games coming in q1-2.  Ps3 will most likely reach 100 million and possibly win the generation.  I do want an upgrade though and am an early adopter.  I've had ps3 for 6 years (will be 7 if 4 launches next fall) and want to see the new possibilities next gen can provide!  400 dollars with a BC add on, cloud capabilities, new ps+ offerings, and probably twice as powerful as wiiu without a tablet controller to worry about gets me excited.  Imagine what naughty dog can do with modern tech if they made last of us on ps3 (6 year old tech)

I call everything listed as baloney. It is clear now that Sony is going to launch PS4 fall 2013. As we all know, all the big guns games are coming before E3. There is nothing so far announced for release past June.

and why the Sony chip would have to wait until MS figures out there chip problems? None Sense.

The current xbox is probably the best hardware out there.

If by best you mean one of the far worse pieces of hardware in the history of hardware, then yeah.

I am sorry but the fail rate of over 50% is something that will forever stay with the 360.

It's not a car, it's not a blender. It's hardware at its most unreliable.

2005-2007 called, it wants your opinion back.

Yet despite that it still managed to have more lifetime sales then the former #1 brand in gaming for the past 2 generations.....

People prefer faulty hardware to a functional PS3.....that in itself says something.

It only benefits Nintendo and MS. It really does.

Playstation dominance was founded on launching before major competitors. This gen PS3 lost much of its 3rd party dominance and marketshare, largely because developers were allready used to making games for the 360 and the early adopters gave 360 an edge.

PS4 launching last is even worse because unlike last gen where Wii launched alongside PS3, PS4 will be 2 years behind WiiU and more or less 1 year behind Xbox. And it no longer has the PS2 brand name to carry it like it did with PS3 in its early years.

It will be Sonys final biggest mistake to launch last next gen. Itll be this gen, only repeated. Fine by me, but confused as to how youd agree with me.

Both delay is good... a new gen next year is too early in my opinion... 2014 is a better year for that.

November 2014 is te best time for the new gen but that's just my opinion... so I'm rooting for delays.

I agree 2014 might be the best time, but how will Microsoft fill the gaps with the year out side of relying on third party? I think E3 will have some big surprises because the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter will be dry for Microsoft first party or even second party. Sony can survive off of their exclusives and multiplats combined through to 2014.

Rofl, some of these replies.

However, the same site also reported onproblems with the chip’s manufacturing with one source calling the component quality ‘painfully low’. The issue is rumoured to have cause production delays.

RROD again?

The site suggests PS4 will launch Spring or Autumn 2014.

 Good news if true.

The name of the PS4 project is Thebes. As you might have guessed, other than it being an AMD CPU and GPU, we don’t have much more specific details. It is said to be a 28nm part, likely fabbed at Global Foundries or IBM for the first run, and out after Oban. That would most likely be the spring of 2014, but it could be fall of that year too.

I don't like the CPU + GPU together from AMD... seems too weak. But I like the 28nm talk .

Microsoft wouldnt make that massive mistake twice.

Are you sure? A Microsoft employee(dont' know which one) stated that their decision to launch first and all those troubles was worth it as it gave them several advantages.

I just don't see how anyone can buy the next-gen Xbox with confidence.

The current xbox is probably the best hardware out there.  I'd say the biggest risk of the 3 would be the next PS as it will no doubt be made on the cheap to save costs for the ailing parent company.

The best? Are you talking about reliability? I don't even think we have any data that suggests that.
It is still an Xbox 360 though, it is a completely different process to make an entirely new console with completely different parts.

A reliable Xbox 360 Slim in no way speaks to Microsofts ability to launch reliable next-gen console. All I'm saying is that at the first reports of failing consoles...people need to pay attention. Don't let brand loyalty cloud your judgement.

In no way? lol cmon. Surely the PR and financial faoout is reason enough to get things right next time. The 360 Slim is reliable, the first Xbox was more reliable then PS2. Id say MS has a good shot next gen.

After Gears Judgement, 3rd party and XBLA, combined with next Xbox hype and buzz will carry MS easily through the rest of 2013 until November.

I thought of as much, if the Xbox survives off of anything, its everlasting hype. Halo and Gears will hold the Xbox exclusive owners off. Glad I have both consoles, I get to enjoy both.
