Well to answer your question when the NeXbox comes out.  We will see some declines when the NeXbox gets announced too so maybe even slightly before then.  

It would have more sense bumping one of the 600 threads about PS3 passing the 360 instead of making another.

according to sales statistics around october13 or at least when the 361 is released,because 360 sales will drop more than ps3 sales when the ps4 is released as the ps3 will remain more attractive because of blu ray.

I would actually like to see the ps3 come within 10 (TEN) consoles of overtaking the 360 but it never happening, and the Gen ends with the 360 winning by 4 consoles, just to see what people say.

OT: It all depends on MS, they can cut the 360 price by 100-150$ and still make a profit. The profit would not be very good though, I am sure their sales would skyrocket. Sony has less room to make a move.

It's interesting to note where the most complaints about this thread are coming from.

As for the OP, 2013 is going to be really, really interesting. Will the next Gear's title do anywhere near the numbers of Gears 3? Will it move a significant amount of hardware? Likewise, will the PS3's stellar array of exclusives make that big of a difference on a lame duck console? I know everyone expects the PS3 to do significantly better than the 360 in Q1-Q2, but will it be a massive difference? If the PS3 gets a permanent price-cut, then I think it will finish at least 1.5 M units ahead of the 360 in 2013, probably more. However, I don't think it will overtake the 360 until 2014. We're going to be dealing with much lower numbers for both once the next gen versions are released, so even with a much higher sales rate it's going to take awhile.

I picked 2014. The Xbox 360 is going to have a tough year ahead. PS3 still has lots of AAA exclusives next year so that should give it lots of momentum.

Anyway, if Nextbox sales cut 360 sales, wouldn't PS4 do the same on PS3? Japan tends to be the first region to abandon old consoles and without Japan PS3 is selling less then 360. Wouldn't this argument be pro-360 maintaining a lead? If sales die on both 360 and PS3 due to successor consoles, wouldn't this freeze that lead?

Platformmaster - last year Microsoft didn't cut the price of the 360, but still managed to keep up with PS3, which did a price cut and super slim redesign. If anyone were to benefit from a permanent price cut, wouldn't it be the 360? Also I know Sony would like to say PS3 was the best selling HD console at E3 2013, but wouldn't Microsoft want to say the sale thing? Sony is having financial troubles, they can't afford to give PS3 another price cut, but Microsoft can cut the price on the 360.
