Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo blocking 18+ rated Wii U eShop content at certain times

This makes no sense really. WiiU has parental controls with game rating limits for a reason. eShop should simply utilize this.

Glad NOA does not do this.

if anyone is wondering where the "kiddy console" stereotype comes from i submit to you exhibit A.

which btw (as i am american) - how much content is actually rated 18+? i thought like virtually no games got that rating (just manhunt and the like) or am i off on the European rating scale?

That can't honestly be the only M rated game you know on the Wii.

Which says nothing about the Wii U having several right at launch including a game Nintendo are publishing themselves.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

So you can't even look up information about the game? What if you're one of many, many people who go to bed before 11pm or work during that period?

This is horrible, to be honest, and somewhat insulting, not unless there is a way to turn that off in parental settings. Seriously, unless you can alter this for people who don't even HAVE kids, then there is no defending it.

so 18+ is equiveant to M?  I guess i was thinking more like AO.

That's retarded.
Why not just let the parental control settings decide what content is shown?

I LOVE ICELAND!

It's almost like Euro people don't shop in stores or online that they must download the game digitally? Nintendo gone and fucked up now! DOOMED! XD

Europe obviously has different standards, and are stricter about keeping violent content out of the hands of minors (caring more about violence and less about sex than we do)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It's not about that.

Lots of people's first comments in this thread figured out the proper solution to the problem. This is pure incompetence, no matter how small an issue it is.
