Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii-U Network Extremely Slow

Does it allow you to press B and go do other stuff? The updates will typically allow you to ignore let them go in background.

Also, if its just downloading... it can be turned off, but don't unplug and force off. You simply NEVER want to turn it off if its past the downloading and beginning to install.

I genuinely had no issues and it downloaded in 45 minutes

Yeah, I am not exactly sure if it is the server distributing the update or what. From what I understand it was only a 675MB download, but you can download MUCH bigger software files in half the time.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

As for speed,... yeah idk. Its weird.

The browser is extremely fast and very useful. However, the downloads for both updates and the demo I downloaded all took far longer than I'd expect for that size of data. I think Nintendo really needs to do something about its update servers. It could still be data traffic though as there probably are a lot of global users taxing that part of the system. Either way, Nintendo needs to beef that shit up.

Well we're 45 minutes further and the progress bar has gone up a bit. But it's still as low as ~15% now even after 2 hours of downloading. My download speed is usually around 2MB/s so it can't be that. Nintendo has a problem with the network, there's just no denying for me.

The fact that download speeds are still excruciatingly slow tells me that it's not about traffic, Nintendo either has a shit network set up or there is something about this first update that isn't standard.

First update took me an hour second took me 4hours, however I am in Australia so our internet speeds on server are not that grreat (assuming they are local),

So who knows what the exact issue  is but it is something to do with their network.

Guess I should wait to do my update on the WiiU.

For the download and install it took mine about 1hr 45min. But the progress bar was moving the whole time.

Where do you get 2MB/s from?  Depending on where you got that from, that could be really really slow.  Downloading from my PC, I probably get 800kb/s, but from the speedtest I would get 20mb/s.

Same here and my Wii U update still took about 2 hours.

@Chrizum, if you have a 2MB/s dl speed, just leave the system on all night and see where you are at in the morning.
