Growing up as a Nintendo fan, Sega never really interested me. I played some Genesis games at my friends' houses, but that was about it. Saturn and Dreamcast were never on my radar. I've since bought both, plus a ton of games for each system. But I regret not supporting Sega when I was younger. After playing games like Shining Force, Panzer Dragoon, and SoulCalibur, I realize how much I was missing. I guess I just wish Sega was still in the hardware business. |
Yeah we can't have everything, especialy as kids. My gaming early life went Atari 2600 -> 7800 -> Gameboy -> Genesis -> NES -> Saturn -> SNES -> PS -> N64 -> Dreamcast and so on and so on. The Gameboy and the N64 were the only Nintendo machines I had while they were still alive. I bought the NES and SNES froma friend when he was trying to fund his N64 purchase. The Gameboy was the first system I bought new with my own money and the Dreamcast was the first system I stood in line for and bought on launch day.
My first gaming experience was the Atari 2600 and a friends house and it was years before I convinced my parents to get me a video game system. It ended up being an Atari 7800 even though the NES had been out for years.
I feel luck to have grown up sampling games of all different kinds. Sega has always been a favorite of mine because their games have always taken so many risks. Some times those risk dont' pay off, but when they do they are truely great.
Damn I want a Dreamcast 2.
