Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Black Tusk to Ecplipse 343i Next Gen ? Epic Games to Quit Microsoft line up ?

I really hope Black Tusk makes a game that doesn't involve a single gun. That's what Microsoft is in need of the most. They already have the shooter/action combat genres locked down.

I feel that MS and Epic already have a deal in place for Gears of War to continue as an exclusive into the next gen. I feel that is why Cliff left Epic. I think he wanted to work on new things and he wouldn't get that chance at Epic.

There is no way Microsoft allows the Gears of War franchise to become multiplatform. They would buy the IP and let Epic go do their own thing.

Really though outside of Gears of War Epic doesn't really have much as far as top notch console games?

Do you guys really want a Halo and Forza per year???

I'm going with...

2014: Halo 5 and Forza 5
2015: Gears 4
2016: Forza Horizons 2
2017: Halo 6???

First question: Would I want a Halo every year? Fuck yes. Would I want a Forza every year? No, but then again I don't play sims much.

As for your table, Halo 5 releasing in 2014 is extremely unlikely.

There is good chance Gears will become multi plat. Because MS to renew exclusive contract will have to pay more. And EPIC will want Gears of war to be over 10 million selling franchise which being only on Next Box isnt possible.

And its better to spend money on IPs which they own. MS helped Mass Effect and Bioshock to become big franshices but at the end they went multi plat.

Halo is huge IP but apart from that there is nothing quite as big. Sony has Uncharted, GOW and Gran Turismo. Forza doesnt sell well unless bundled.

Not going to happen. Gears of War is a staple for the Xbox frnachise and if you think Microsoft is going to have Judgment be their last exclusive xbox game you would be mistaken.

There has been zero indication that Gears is going multiplatform.

Also Halo isn't going to be an every year thing. Especially if their other studios are working on other things. I feel like if Bungie wasn't leaving Microsoft that we wouldn't have gotten Reach. I feel that Microsoft was just letting Bungie have one last go before leaving as a thank you.

I think it is very likely... I can't see Halo 5 in 2013... anyway I can't see 720 or PS4 in 2013.

Gears of War is too big/good a franchise for MS to just push away.

I'd hope they would slow down on Forza. One traditional racing release every 2-3 years while maybe someone else makes an open world Horizon type game every other year or so would be good. We don't need Forza becoming Need for Speed. Never been a big Halo fan past Halo 2 so IDGAF what they do there.

Next gen always brings about new IP's. For all we know they could hit on something else huge.

It depends on Epic games and not M$.  If next gen EPIC wants gears to be multiplat they will do it.   They could bring Gears trilogy even to the WiiU.  So M$ has no power over them.

So, four years for creating a game (Halo 4) on a existing platform (X360) that thousands of developers already have worked on, yet they get only two years for creating a next-gen engine and creating the next piece in the main-line Halo franchise?

I think you're delusional, Halo 5 should be no sooner than 2015.

On another note, kind of sad that peeps seem to think Epic Games is going to roll over and make Gears of War multi-plat, if they were going to, they would have already.
