Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Black Tusk to Ecplipse 343i Next Gen ? Epic Games to Quit Microsoft line up ?

With their new studio i fear that Microsoft will push both devs as hard as they can, Black tusk might ecplise 343 at their own game, they want to creat the "next Halo", i dont think 343i was happy when they red this some days ago...

With all this new studios Microsoft is creating will they "waste" any more money on Epic Games ?? I mean Gears of War is a Beast but with Microsoft going heavy on 1st Party it seems they wont make Gears Next Gen, i think Epic and Microsoft have moved for something different, new exclusive IP, that or Epic is gone.

With PlayGround and Turn 10 working together Forzas will come every other year or maybe every year, Lionhead has been quiet but we know they are making Fable IV and a NEw IP, Vitoria will be a new AAA Studio like Black tusk but they are begginning so dont expect a game for them in 2.5 years.

RaRe will take care of Kinect and Twisted Pixel will grow into a Triple A Studio... Crytek is making at least "Ryse" Games until 2018, the game is rumored to be Triple A for Xbox 3 and will be a series of games like Gears and Halo.

What gives?

If a console or company can't handle 2 Halo level+1 Gears level games,it's a failure

Black Tusk Studios hasn't released anything yet and is unproven, furthermore they have what like 55 employees vs the 300+ that 343i has ?

Also 343i has shown what it can do on a 7 years old console, so why would they be uphappy? A: They're a MS studio first, B: Devs work at 343i BECAUSE they want to work on Halo specifically.

Epic Games was never exclusive to Microsoft anyway, nor was their relationship a waste of money, I'm positive that if they wish to continue the Gears franchise or find something else that mutually benefits them both they'll go for it.

What makes you think Crytek is doing more than 1 Ryse game, and also where did you pull this magic 2018 number from?

What gives?

back at e3 2011 i read something about a contract until 2018.

Gears of War is too big/good a franchise for MS to just push away.

I'd hope they would slow down on Forza. One traditional racing release every 2-3 years while maybe someone else makes an open world Horizon type game every other year or so would be good. We don't need Forza becoming Need for Speed. Never been a big Halo fan past Halo 2 so IDGAF what they do there.

Next gen always brings about new IP's. For all we know they could hit on something else huge.

i'm thinking Epic will go multiplatform with GEARS. HALO and FORZA every yr. is my worst nightmare come true.

black tusk unproven! ture, but as you've also pointed out, they both are MS studios first, so channces are 343i will be working long side of Blacktusk to make any project they work on a quality IP.

Why does it have to be one or the other?

MS will probably continue to buy out Epic to make Gears of War. Still tons of lore not in video game form.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

IF, and that is a big IF, Black Tusk actually builds an IP as big as Halo or Gears and MS secures Gears of War for another gen, there will be a lot of core games for Xbox 3.

Personally I am looking forward to the next Twisted Pixel game as well.

2013: Xbox 3 release with CoD, Forza 5.
2014: Fable IV, Black Tusk
2015: Halo 5, Forza 6, Gears of War 4

Add Tiwsted Pixel, Rare, Crytek and MS Victoria and you have a pretty big lineup.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

It does make you wonder if Microsoft feels that whatever they pay Epic for Gears exclusivity isn't worth it for an IP they don't own or that they're worried Epic will take Gears multi-plat anyway. Seriously, you'd think that it would take a LOT to convince Epic to keep Gears exclusive, as they could make so much money if they opened it up.

As far as Black Tusk having a lot less employees, they might not need that many at this point in the development process. I also wonder if Microsoft will try a different genre, maybe try to shift their heavily shooter-centric fanbase a little. Another FPS just seems like it would be overkill. Still, you figure Halo can't go on forever without creating market apathy. Perhaps they're looking into an eventual replacement franchise? I just hope it's not another Military shooter.
