Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nextbox "Durango" has 1.6GHz CPU?

Marcan, the hacker who brought us what could be the Wii U’s CPU clock speed is now saying that he has heard from his sources that the next Xbox system’s CPU will be clocked at 1.6Ghz.

He doesn’t reveal his source, just says this:

If you want more evidence that MHz isn’t everything, a little birdie points out that Durango (Xbox 720) is specc’ed to have a 1.6GHz CPU.

Food for thought. (And don’t bother asking me who that little birdie is.)

I’m not sure if Marcan’s source is accurate but I wouldn’t be surprised if it came true nonetheless. CPU’s of next-gen consoles don’t need to be anywhere near 3.2Ghz to put out better results than 360/PS3. Things don’t improve based on how much you up the clock speed.

I’ve always thought it was pretty odd that our current gen consoles had CPUs north of 3Ghz but a small amount of RAM.

Even if Marcan doesn’t really know anything, and he could since he’s such a big figure in the Wii hacking community, I’m pretty sure he could end up being right in the end.

so what do you think guys?

8 cores Juagar or PowerPC A2 then, both are rumored for nextbox

But i doubt he know anything about Durango(or PS4)

It has no potential. The CPU is simply too weak.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well if people start calling BS on this, I should point out how much people agreed with this guy when he talked about the Wii U specs. So I think we should definitely take this as a possibility.

What I'm saying is that people were taking him as a legitimate source of information.  I'm not saying this information cannot be refuted, but if we say what he said for the Wii U is the reality, then there should be no reason to suddenly dismiss from his sources.  If someone does, while agreeing with his Wii U sentiment (if this person does so without any grounds, at least), they are being a hypocrite.

yeah and this guy say a lot of things without proubes abut the "WiiU cpu's speed" and all people just take it as fact, or now this guy is wrong? double standards?

That doesn't make any sense...why should we assume that someone supposed to be a big name in the Wii hacking community and who has the Wii U in his hands to play with and learn about would have sources in the games industry that could tell him the clock speed on the nextbox?  I'll be honest, that doesn't seem hypocritical to me so much as logical.  Noone was assuming that he got his information about the Wii U by asking around, and thus believing him about the Wii U does not mean you have to believe what he gets by asking around about the Nextbox.

...

What double standards?Yes,he can be wrong for this,or you tell me he have WiiU so he must also have Durango dev kit?

He knows about WiiU CPU speed not because any "Anonymous source".
