Just like the iPads that don't have the gens on the boxes, right haters?

Hate? No, no, it's bewilderment.

At what, the double standards they use?

I couldn't agree more.

1. Firstly, people tend to know about the things they're invested into. There are alot more people invested in phones then there are games and many of the people who we're suggesting are confused are parents buying it for their kids. My dad still doesn't know the difference between my 360 and ps3. My younger brothers who plays games casually still does not know what franchises are exclusive to what system, he asked if he could get Halo 4 on ps3...

2. "Just like Ipads that don't have the gens on the boxes, right haters" ... This just helps my argument. People are used to incremental technical advances (screen res, processing speed for when using apps), an IPAD 2 functions more or less the same as whatever the newest version is and you rarely see exclusive content. This is the case with most popular technology so its understandable that people would be confused. Again this applys only to young children who allow their parents to buy them presents unsupervised lol. Its significant because that is a large portion of Nintendo's audience.

Maybe those kids told their parents to buy a 3DS and instead they got 3 DS's?

Have to admit, that was a good one.

I wouldnt be surprised.

Once I told a friend I had a 3DS, and he said "Wow, why 3 Ds's?"

Funnily enough I was in a shop today and overheard 2 middle aged women (I'm assuming they were mums), one turned to the other and said this about the 3DS. "Its the Nintendo DS but its in 3D... "

In short, yes they are still very confused.

if they dont get it by now, they just arent going to get it.

Well to be fair most parents don't know shit when it comes to video game systems (the older ones especially).  Most parents were content on calling all systems Nintendo back in the 80s/early 90s.  My parents would call my Sega Genesis a Nintendo back in the day.  They then started using the common word PlayStation during the PS1/PS2 eras.  Now, some might the home console system a Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo.  I'm sure some call hand helds Game Boys still and now they finally learned the name DS.  So it comes to me as no surprise that they can't figure out the 3DS is the sequel to the DS.  If they named it DS2 then perhaps common sense might hit them on the head but they would still call it a DS.

I don't understand what point you are trying to make... can you elaborate?

It's in response to bold. It doesn't just happen with Nintendo's audience, there is a vaster number of young users of the ios devices, and the same applies to them, which makes it a double standard to apply it to Nintendo's devices and not to Apple's.

However, I will agree that the revisions in the iPads cause less backwards incompatibility since content is usually supported as the device increments upwards. That's true. And that's the only point one can make.

At the same time, a parent can very well return the gift in exchange for a 3DS if need be. This isn't a show-stopper imho and is truly the fault of sales clerks who don't take the time to inform people of the differences.

True, since the 3DS games are not compatible with DS games, Nintendo has to be more careful than Apple in ensuring customers choose the right product, but to be completely fair, what's the difference between DS2 and 2DS? or DS3 and 3DS?

To make a big deal out of this and put it on the "blame Nintendo" list is grasping at straws, imho.

Who is saying blame Nintendo. Calm down you upsetdolphin.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I've seen a lot of people (even techy ones) that think that 3DS is just a DS with 3D. It's a terrible name if you don't want to generate confusion.

i agree... thats why they should've done the sony's strategy... call them by number...

ps, ps2, ps3.....

even toddlers know which came first
