Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Zelda U controls speculation

I didn't feel that motion control really added to the experience, and in all honesty I felt Skyward Sword was a let down. I'd rather use the gamepad to control it with touch screen inventory.

Never say never, they did for Twilight Princess.

Twilight Princess was m-rated?

No, but it was dark and "locked out" a younger audience (by appeal). But if m-rated is all you meant then I agree.

Yeah. I don't think we'll ever see an M-rated zelda, but I really liked what they did with TP... I wouldn't mind another game similar to that in atmosphere. I'm sure not everyone would agree though.

If they where to go with this control scheme you are suggesting, they would probably give you an armwrist or something so that you can use the tablet as a real shield. But really now, this game wont use the Wii Mote.

I liked what they did with Twilight Princess too, and I would love a Wii U Zelda in that style. But TP wasn't so dark as to shut out young gamers, and I don't think Nintendo will ever make one that is.

SS doesn't have a traditional option because there was no way you could do the combat or the puzzles with button controls. the WiiU gamepad has a second analog. What if they could make the right analog also control the sword? Move the stick right > Link swings right. Move it up > Link trusts upwards, and so on.

Coming back to this, now that I played Nintendo Land, I see this happening (it may or may not be secondary to SS style control). In Nintendo Land, the prototype has already been made; at the Game & Watch mini-game Octopus Dance. Here you move the character's arms by using both sticks.

The only Wii Pad feature I'd be willing to accept would be inventory. That's it and I'd still rather just have OoT style controls.
