Racing games in general aren't doing well. If you're game doesn't have the main character equipping a gun, then don't expect to sell a lot of copies, albeit there are a few exceptions. Even Gran Turismo 5 didn't do so well when compared to the other GT games. The difference is that 9 million in sales is still pretty damn beast when matched up against other racing franchises/games. Not to mention that the popularity of Forza is decreasing. Forza 3 sold 5.1m whereas Forza 4 sold 2.65m and now Forza Horizon...yeah. I blame Call of Duty for the increase in popularity of shooters! =P

Yea you have to give Forza 4 some time to sell but then again it's usually the Sony games that have the crazy legs so idk

But Im pretty sure that MS will bundle Forza 4 to 4-5 million though.. And Forza Horizon to like 3 million

But whatever though..

Microsoft has released way too many Forza games this gen and this is going to tire the series out which is why I assumed that the series peaked on Forza 3 and will continue to go down if Microsoft forces Turn 10 to turn (lol) out new Forza games. This, in my opinion, will hurt them a lot in the future. Polyphony attempts to spend as much time possible on a game before releasing it, which is why it is still relevant and looked at as the king of racing sims. In trying to attain the sales and popularity of Gran Turismo, rather than focusing on quality they focus more on quantity. Yes I realize that the Metacritic for Forza 4/Horizon is higher than GT5 game but that is the price GT has to receive for it's large popularity. Much like Call of Duty, Reviewers try to pick out every little wrong detail that the game has in order to get their website hits or try to be a "rebel" amongst the other reviewers praising the game. Yes the game isn't perfect, but with all the patches/DLC that Polyphone  has released for GT5 since launch it has exceeded the quality of Forza. Again as I said, this is all my opinion.

reviewers reviewed forza better as gt because they think it's better and not because gt is a bigger franchise and whatever you said^^ and yes gt 5 is much better now but reviewers review the game at release and not how people can play it a year or so later. if they would have released gt 5 like it is now it would have gotton a higher score but they didn't, they released a game worse than forza 4 and with that forza 4 got a higher score at release.

and turn 10 has a much bigger team so they didn't work less hours on a forza 4 as polyphony did with gt 5. has nothing to do with quantity instead of quality, just that a bigger team can do more in a shorter timeframe but the worked hours are the same in the end. if you count gt for psp and ps3 and probably one for vita anytime soon i don't think gt games get more hours worked on (not talking about horizon, that probably got much less working hours)

Wait, so does this mean that Diablo 3, Skyrim, Max Payne 3, The Witcher 2, Gears of War 3 and The Old Republic are also tanking because they are really cheap on the Microsoft Store?

It's not about how you start, it's about how you finish. GT5 didn't start in first place but they finished in first.

that's your opinion, i still like forza more but what exactly has this to do with what you said, that reviews are lower because they look more at the bad stuff in gt because it's such a big franchise and that they work more on the game before they release it? it seems as if they work more on it after release because otherwise they wouldn't have had to fix the game so much. and like i said, if you have 2 or 3 times as much employees working on a game you need much less time. much less time doesn't mean then that they put less work in forza.

With november and december sales, I could see this getting to 1.5 ot 1.7 million personally. Provided the dealss are good. The season pass would help offset any losses made on retail.

Wasn't Alan Wake available on Amazon and stuff for 10$ after a few weeks?

The Forza Games come out to often - Microsoft is doing a Guitar Hero/Tony Hawk here.
They push out Forza every year like most of their other franchises.
Especially too much in one Gen and people get bored of it...Forza isn't doing that good anyway and then you bring every year a Forza Game?
I think a lot of people combine Forza Horizon with Kinect even if it isn't a big part of it.
The interest in Forza is declining - The 1st Forza on Nextbox will sell better again and then it will go down again.
For racing games 1 game every 2-3 years is a good thing...Franchises like Gran Turismo that have the fanbase, especially on Playstation that is big in Europe can take a little bit longer.
Forza will fall into the "Need for Speed"(but with higher quality but no one cares for that after some time) direction if they don't stop or take it slower.
