God I want one. Shame Im going to be too skint to get one this year. (mental note, must win lottery.)

-Console looks ugly. Why did they choose to make it long instead of wide? t's just weird....
-Why the power brick? Is there a technical reason for this? Does the power supply not fit inside the console? Why is PS3 the only console to not have a power brick?
-Wii U Pro controller looks nice. Wonder if its actually usable. The button placements seem like an odd choice.
-Wii U gamepad disapoints. Needs its own power chord to charge. No charging via USB, only 3-5hour battery life despite the console being the one doing all the work.....
-Launch line-up is nice but not anything that convinces me to jump ship since the best of the line-up is available on PS3/360 as well...

Since the gamepad comes with its custom charger how is this a negative? Also they put the power supply in the bricks to keep console size down.

It's a negative since its the only way to charge it. USB charing through the console is not supported. If battery life was longer it wouldn't be that big of a problem.

This means you CAN NOT use the Wii U gamepad while charging it unless you  have an outlet very close. I'd imagine the Wii U charger is pretty short.

The gamepad battery life is extremely disappointing. There are tablets such as the iPad that manage much better battery life all while doing its own processing/computing.

-Why the power brick? Is there a technical reason for this? Does the power supply not fit inside the console? Why is PS3 the only console to not have a power brick? Good question... But as far as I know all consoles I've played on had this brick...
-Wii U Pro controller looks nice. Wonder if its actually usable. The button placements seem like an odd choice. Agreed.
-Wii U gamepad disapoints. Needs its own power chord to charge. No charging via USB, only 3-5hour battery life despite the console being the one doing all the work..... Yeah, battery life is disapointing, but it looks sleak as hell!

I think the main reason for that is to keep the console itself smaller, having that brick inside the console will increase the size a little too much. Nintendo is known for keeping their consoles small.

Nintendo and PC gamer

also, keeping the brick outside the console keeps the heat down

Sounds fair =)

The's more to it then that, not only does it reduce heat but also the brick is a sort of safety measure for the console as if the power shorts out or has some sort of fault it saves your console from damage and all you need to do is buy a replacement adapter instead of replacing your console.

I don't know how your house is put together, but I have a couple of outlets right next to the couch. I don't have any USB ports on my walls though.
