Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor: Samsung looking to enter gaming industry, hiring game developers?

They won't.

Making console like games only to work on Samsung smart TVS? I don't see the point. If TVS are going to come in with built in Wiis or XBoxs cool. But I can see consoles going on for a long time, just evolving to the point where they can run on just more then TVs alone.

It's just that simple.

Finally, I was wondering for long time when they're gonna enter the market.

And here folks is why game developers and publishers have said Sony and MS had better take these next gen consoles seriously. If they do not push the hardware and leverage their current positions they are going to loose massive market share. Because next gen, Call of Duty, Madden, Fifa, Grand Theft Auto, and every other major third party title will be available on many more devices. If they do not make theirs the ultimate gaming spot, they are in for a massive loss.

The problem is I really don't know which way to go. The other players could have tiered platforms, with entry level systems that play games at 720p. While also having a mid range, and a high range product. I think Microsoft is already heading in this direction with Windows 8. The next Xbox could just be a Windows 8 PC, that has a forum factor that fits under the TV. The market is in for a major change in the next 5 years, and there is really nothing the big three can do about it. Tech has changed to much, and if you try to forge your own path, you will get sunk.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

It's given. Samsrung and Apple will both enter console gaming and eventually push put Microsoft and perhaps even Sony.

Apple don't do anything with as low a margin as game development.

I can't see Samsung making their own console, I'm certain this is for their phones and that they will sell it on Android phones other than theirs.

With 2/3 next-gen consoles having an AMD CPU and 3/3 having an AMD GPU, combined with all PCs having much better minimum graphics from Ivy Bridge/Llano onward, I think the distinction between console and PC will disappear and there won't be any future new 'gens'. I don't think even next gen is necessary or will improve sales any; 360/PS3 are still fine for delivering any modern, HD game you'd want to deliver.

Apple will definitely do something even though margins in gaming are poor like you say. I believe they will make an Apple TV that will also be a powerful gaming console and since it will sell like hotcakes it will be very dangerous to MS and Sony. With time Apple will increase its marketshare and eventually the gaming business of either MS or Sony will bleed too much money and they will decide to exit.

Samsung might follow Apple and integrate gaming capabilities to its TV business, or do something radical that we even can't picture today. They must be up to something innovative because they've already said they are leaving the core TV business because its not profitable.

Samsung really do want to replace Sony..

mM

well they did produce their own version of Sega Saturn

If they do it'll probably be for exclusive software for their SMART TVs, tablets and phones. It might not be solely games either, but Samsung specific apps to give them a First-Party edge in these markets.
