RolStoppable said: Based on precedence (PSP and PS3), it's a given that Sony will struggle to support three platforms at the same time, because they have yet to prove that they can support two at the same time. Currently, they have to support two platforms (PS3 and PSV; they abandoned the PSP a couple of years ago) and one of them isn't doing well at all. What should be expected is that Sony will focus on the PS4 and sacrifice the PSV, because that's what they did in the case of the PS3 and PSP. Perhaps third parties will start to carry the PSV like they did with the PSP, so that the handheld has healthy sales in at least one region (Japan). Bottom line, I don't need an article (well written or not) to figure what's going to happen. |
I agree, but last Gen Starter Sony was trying to juggle 3 systems (PSP,PS2,PS3) which is virtually impossible. They need to pull a Nintendo and Microsoft and drop PS3 like a bad habbit when PS4 is released in 2014. What I mean by that is stop having 3rd and 1st Party release their usual installments on the system, at least in smaller portions. 3 years after PS3 was released, the PS2 was still getting many of the big multiplat titles. I think this crippled PS3 selling potential because people could hold out longer to play recent games. They don't have to shut down the servers or anything, that should still stay running for a few years, just don't make it easy for slow adopters, make them feel like they will miss out if they don't upgrade.
Sony needs some Dedicated Playstation Handheld teams. Ones that don't just concentrate on making spin-off AAA titles but really mold exclusive experiences for Vita. Ready at Dawn did a great job on the GoW games but they need to be allowed to just make an original IP for Vita with their skills. Just like they have Team Ico and such, they should be putting together Team Vita. This also allows the larger studios like ND to keep their sights focused on top notch console quality titles for PS4. Media Molecule is also split now they they are working on Tear-Away and a mystery PS4 title.
