Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Development "stretching Sony studios thin"

I love all the Sony reps in this thread... but I'm wondering after all the layoffs why does Sony still employ people who just sit posting gaming forums... I thought they were serious about cutting costs... The people in this thread should be fired from sony corp

I really do miss a "Like" button though...

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

3rd parties are definetly going to release next gen games for WiiBox during the year before ps4 is released. Both platforms will have gained a good footing since x3ox will get ports from the WiiU and vice versa while ps4 is waiting to get released

Not only that but they fell behind in every part of the hardware market. So third parties may lose faith in their performance to get off the ground especially after vita.

I do agree they need to differentiate their system more next time around. I also believe that unless they get it out by the end of march 2014 they are definitely going to struggle. And I'm actually questioning if this will make that time at this point. But provided they sell at profits they should be fine. It is really a must to sell at profits at this point.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

People forget how much Blu ray increased the PS3 price back in 2006. My prediction is PS4/720 $400 Basic $500 Premium which is affordable.

Based on precedence (PSP and PS3), it's a given that Sony will struggle to support three platforms at the same time, because they have yet to prove that they can support two at the same time. Currently, they have to support two platforms (PS3 and PSV; they abandoned the PSP a couple of years ago) and one of them isn't doing well at all.

What should be expected is that Sony will focus on the PS4 and sacrifice the PSV, because that's what they did in the case of the PS3 and PSP. Perhaps third parties will start to carry the PSV like they did with the PSP, so that the handheld has healthy sales in at least one region (Japan).

Bottom line, I don't need an article (well written or not) to figure what's going to happen.

I agree, but last Gen Starter Sony was trying to juggle 3 systems (PSP,PS2,PS3) which is virtually impossible. They need to pull a Nintendo and Microsoft and drop PS3 like a bad habbit when PS4 is released in 2014. What I mean by that is stop having 3rd and 1st Party release their usual installments on the system, at least in smaller portions. 3 years after PS3 was released, the PS2 was still getting many of the big multiplat titles. I think this crippled PS3 selling potential because people could hold out longer to play recent games. They don't have to shut down the servers or anything, that should still stay running for a few years, just don't make it easy for slow adopters, make them feel like they will miss out if they don't upgrade.

Sony needs some Dedicated Playstation Handheld teams. Ones that don't just concentrate on making spin-off AAA titles but really  mold exclusive experiences for Vita. Ready at Dawn did a great job on the GoW games but they need to be allowed to just make an original IP for Vita with their skills. Just like they have Team Ico and such, they should be putting together Team Vita. This also allows the larger studios like ND to keep their sights focused on top notch console quality titles for PS4. Media Molecule is also split now they they are working on Tear-Away and a mystery PS4 title.

I can only agree =)

I think PS4 will release October 2013 for $399... It's just a hunch, nothing more. I have to evidence and hardly any speculation ^^

You crazy bro? People complain about WiiU's price point ($299 and $349), so $499 is out of the question. And they can't afford to lose $100/sold PS4. It'll be $399 at most.

Sad we live in a world where paying $600 for a phone it's ok but more than $400 for a console it's consider too expensive :(

Marketing Baby! Marketing!
The common consumer is in essense, not the brightest and become easily(or maybe not so easily) convinced the sky is Red if you tell them enough.

And it just so happens that Marketing seems to be Sony's weakest ability :/

People complaint about WiiU price because so far it doesn't look like a leap over PS3/360 and neither you or me can see the future PS4/720 $400 Basic $500 Premium is my prediction we'll see what happens.
