^thats why its just a rumor and might not be true

its not true--what happend was proably this--Nin came out and said they were gong to be shipping more to stores that were selling more right, and scaling back on the ones that werent seling as much---

since the store inquestions was selling Mario Gaxaly super cheap, they were proably not moving many wiis and wanted to strum up business

Nin saw that they wernt selling as many wii as they were shipped so they scaled back and directed them to another store....at least thats the way i see it

Well many retailers I checked out usually had SMG at ~%10 off the MSRP (¥5,800). The store I was going to buy it at was selling it for ¥4,980, which is about %14 off the MSRP. It's very easy to find SMG (and most other games too) at just a bit below MSRP. I don't see what Nintendo would do, nor why...

It seems like a nonsensical rumor, doesn't it?  Nintendo has made efforts to stop retailers from price gouging the Wii, but that's in the consumer's best interest.  Why Nintendo would be upset because a retailer is taking a loss and selling a Nintendo game extra cheap I can't understand.

So I doubt that this thread has any validity. And after seeing who the source was, I'm surprised it was even posted.

Why is this even being discussed? Nintendo doesn't give a crap what retailers sell the game for. They are paying Nintendo a pre-set price as it is. It's not like this costs Nintendo any money at all. What a pointless rumor.

While I agree there is something to consider that could give this rumor some weight.

Let's say nintendo sells stores SMG for $45 and most sell it for $50. If one decides to sell it for $45 and cut into their own revenues by hoping it'll help bring customers to their stores who will buy other merchandise other stores who follow the $50 MSRP could get upset. I'm not saying it's neccessarily true but we shoudn't just dismiss the possibility.

We already heard some time back that Nintendo was rewarding certain retailers who moved Wiis and DSs without doing insane bundles with more shipments so maybe this could be some kind of extension of that plan.

I'm just reporting a rumor, the game the rumor is about is irrelevant. Oh and G* F*** Y*******.

Name calling and insults are against forum rules. *s do not make it any better. What if I told you to shove a 8--- up your (_*_). I did not use words, but the context make it as insulting as if I did.

Try reading this, it may help you:

http://advice7.com/emotions_feelings/obsessions.html

Some relevant parts:

Here we'll discuss good and bad obsessions. A bad obsession is the constant focus of energy on something to the point that the obsession causes harmful consequences in your life.
...

Being obsessed with someone famous (like Mario) usually stems from feeling insecure about who you are and wishing to be someone else (the person obsessed usually want to be the famous person or be like that person). This can also be a good thing if you don't have any good influences or role models in your life but taking things to the point that you become someone else. As long as you don't stop being yourself completely you could be okay. Obsessing excessively can be very detrimental to you health.

...

Most obsessions come up when someone is trying to fill a sense of emptiness in their life. Some people get obsessed when they’ve lost something in their past or present so they obsess on something that reminds them of the lost person or thing. It usually stems from not being able to accept loss or not understanding that many things in life can’t be forever. Obsessions can stem from many things that most people aren't really aware of.

Rol, too funny man. As for this thread it is pointless because it makes no sense. Once the retailer buys the shipment from Nintendo, Nintendo has made their money. If they want to sell the game for a less profit thats their decision.

Two things.

1. Japanese law/contracts/contract law on this matter may be very different than US, CAN, UK, EU, AUS, etc.

2. If this were the case, you would never see any Ninetendo games at Toys R Us again. They gave away $25 Gift Cards for buying SMG (lowering the effective price to $25). Later, the ran a Buy-2-Get-1-Free Sale and gave away a $10 gift card if you spent over $75. That lowered the effective price of AAA ($50 Wii) titles to $30.

3. Circuit City which had a $35 SMG sale on Black Friday also would fall under this.

To stop this from continuing down this path (a path in which I will be banning multiple people) I'm locking this thread.  In the future, please no unverified flame bait, and please no insults (on both sides).

So you knew that insults are against forum rules yet you insulted me and derailed this thread?  Talk about giving the middle finger to the site and it's rules.

Sadly I'm so used to unwarranted insults from you that it wouldn't really surprise me.  Seriously what you're doing is shooting the messenger and it's wrong.  I'm simply reporting a story, nothing more, nothing less, and it's obvious as a fanboy you're taking it too personally.
