Forums - Politics Discussion - Anti-Japan protests in China spread.

More than 1,000 Chinese march in Beijing to protest Japan's plan to buy the disputed Diaoyu islands. Japanese businesses are attacked in several cities.

Basically there are widespread protests in China over the disputed Diaoyu Islands. This has to quite an intense situation and hatred toward Japanese and anything japanese in China. Not sure how heated the situation is. I hope it gets resolved through talks but it could escalate into possible military action and cause strong negative relations between the two countries. Just wanted to bring this to the attention of people.

Japanese car dealerships, food places and any of the products were destroyed by rioters.

Demonstrators hurled eggs, rocks and bottles at Japan's embassy in Beijing

Here is a video footage or riots in a BBC article. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-19620700

The disputed islands.    Rioters over- turned many japanese branded cars.

These are some glimpses of what's happened. Let's  see how the situation develops and hopefully resolves.

You mind elaborating on that. You probably understand the situation much better.

how serious are things getting there? I heard some radio headline this morning saying people were worried it could escalate politically a lot further?

I am not sure about the military action. There are reports and pictures circulating of burning buildings. Banners calling Japanese derogatory names (Japanese Dogs leave the islands). Some shops and malls have been destroyed. Violence against people with japanese products. So situation is quite tense inside the country. There is some talk of naval action for the islands.

Also some are saying that Chinese government fuelled the riots to use that as propaganda but than we are getting into conspiracy and not confirmed news reports.

This is incited by the government. They teach them to be anti-Japanese in school. No way ordinary citizens would get this bent out of shape over uninhabited islands.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

The Chinese join the ranks of the violent muslim protesters, I see. Sigh. So much for being civilized people. These "protesters" make me sick. I hope their government is taking measures to prevent damage and to give monetary funds to those who've already been financially harmed in the actions.

EDIT: Looking at the guys above me - if the Chinese government had anything to do with this.. then fuck them. What a disgrace.

China claims soverinty of the Spratly Islands which are in Filipino waters, they also claim Islands belonging to other nations. These protests are justified and not incited by the Chinest govt. Japan invaded China around this time and the war crimes which were probably greater than Nazi Germany that Japan inflicted on China were never acknowledged or apologized for by Japan.
