Forums - Sales Discussion - Games that sell (on) handhelds: Let's stop beating around the bush

I don't have anything to add to this thread. I just wanted to tell everyone that I just lost the game.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Curse you Mr. Share-Storm!

Former something....

I think JRPGs in general sell better on handhelds than consoles for this generation since the genre has pretty much died out for consoles this generation except for a few gems.

While I wouldn't say that was strictly correct ... 57 of the 179 million selling games (and 15 of the 17 games that sold 5 million selling games) in the last generation of handhelds were developed by Nintendo. This means that there were lots of non-Nintendo games that were highly successful and (probably) sold a lot of systems; but it also shows that Nintendo is a dominant force in the handheld side of the industry that is difficult to compete against.

The problem is that I personally don't want to watch a long cutscenes on a handheld, especially if I'm in a bus or something, good examples are Uncharted for the Vita or Metal Gear Solid for the 3DS. I just prefer to have a race on Mario Kart or do a couple of levels on Mario 3D land, and that's where the difference comes between both consoles.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Or you copy them :D

As long as the game is good I dont care what system its on. Crisis Core, Dissidia, Mario, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, Metal Gear, Mario and Luigi, all good IMHO and all are multi-million sellers(maybe not KH)

So where does that leave those multi million sellers like GT and god of war or GTA?

All bow to me the VGChartz current reigning 3DS prediction champion

Bet with tbone51: Pokeon X & pokemon Y will not sell more than 8 million in 2013

July 2009 daveJ saidTrue the wii has a large lead now but by 2017 the most likely result will be 1. ps3 2. xbox360 3. wii <-- wii's successor launched in 2011 effectively killing sales of the wii

It depends of what we try to say with "sell." Do you mean multi-million sellers or games that sold enough to warrant profits?...
Anyways, I would say well-known names or game with a huge word of mouth advertising.
