Awesome!

An EA collapse would be good for gaming.

Sega should be the first one to go down. They have done nothing for gaming in recent past.

Sega is publishing The Cave, which looks better than anything EA has made in...  ever.

hahahhhahaaahahahahaahahahhahahahaahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahaha

hm? they have done Panzer Dragoon Saga, that's enough justification for me for Sega to be around forever :)

I hope they revive the Panzer Dragoon franchise someday *sigh* - ideally as RPG like Saga

What? never heard of it.

lets compare.

EA has Mass Effect, Dragon Age, SSX, Fifa, Command & Conquer and soon UFC . And there are so many games I don´t play but still are high profile, like the Sims, Spore, Battlefield, Crysis, Dead Space, Mirrors Edge and many more.

And Sega has nothing interesting besides of Total War and Vanquish

But this is not a Sega vs. EA thread.

They probably want a full control of the market and make it easier for all games to have shitty online restrictions like D3. Thankfully I don't see myself playing beyond this gen, I'm tired of the whole gaming business and I think my gaming library covers every possible gaming experience.

But man, I'm sorry for the kids. No more pirating, or secretly buying or renting the games they couldn't own or their parents didn't let them.

Don't worry about the kids, everytime someone worries about the kids the kids come out fine flashing two middle fingers in the air.

Social gaming has become a huge thing, maybe its not what we see as gaming, but Farmville, Cityville, and a boatload of other "games" are what the kids like.   Don't go old man on us now, everytime I think that gaming is finished, that it has moved past me and that I don't like it anymore, something comes along that brings me right back, Mario Galaxy hit me this gen so hard I didn't know what to do, never thought I would like a platform game that much again, but alas.

Things look wierd now, but just wait until there are official announcements for next gen aside from Wii U, and never count Nintendo out.

I'm good with it. My only hope is that it also creates lower prices sooner. That's the only reason I buy from Ebay. So if a new digital copy is on sale, I'll be fine with that.

double post, sorry

It think the move to digital is enivitable - music and movies are already headed this way, and PC games have been available digitally for many years. Cloud gaming is likely a major influencer here too. It's just a matter of the high-speed internet getting out to enough homes to make this happen.

The bulk of you are misunderstadning this; it's pretty obvious they meant BOTH digital and physical.

Anyway, what the sheeple applauding digital distro don't get is that they don't own any games bought via download.
They have none of the property rights that physical purchases come with. Digitally distributed console games can't be given away, sold, touched, or even backed up, and they are locked to one specific console/account. You can never get back even a single cent of the moeny you paid for a DD game, and if your gaming console breaks down (say 10 years from now) you can't just buy another FunBox 3 and transfer your game there. Once the original distro channel is gone, you are S-O-L.

Exclusive digital distro also means that there is no pricing competition, because there is only ONE distribution channel.

You have to be pretty damn daft not to understand this.

nor did I mention that EA should fall or that Sega was better than EA or anything like that, so I don't know why you respond to me with those lists

Things are definatly changing on that front. Those in the EU have all of those rights for digital content.
