Lol, sounds iffy tbh, but even if it's true, I thought the Wii U was supposed to release with a straightforward architecture?

From what I understood from the article, the problem with Wii U development, is making the games unique to that platform.

Good point, you could very well be right there.

Hope that's not going to become reason enough for major third part developers to shun the platform. If the WiiU doesn't take off as the Wii and it's not getting third-party support it could really get in trouble.

strange... last I read was that it was easy to develop for the Wii-U...

I suspect this is more "we'd have to come up with new ideas for that controller" than "the system is hard to program." See, inter alia, Kojima's comment on why he ain't makin' shit for the system.

This sounds fairly likely. Comming up with a suitable implementation of the tablet might be more hassle then some devs want to deal with.

Too late!

It has a tablet controller. Casuals will really like that.
I expect Sony and Microsoft to also release a tablet controller at some point for their next-gen systems.

AAA game developers don't like non traditional controls because they can't easily port the game from one system to the next.

But I thought the WiiU was weak?

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

So this basically means AAA devs are to stupid to make games with tablet support even tho indie devs can do it? FAIL

Didn't Vigil Games said that it only took like 2 lines of code to transfer the game from the screen to the controller?

I think the issue here is that third parties are to lazy to think in unique ways to use the controller, if that's the case then it will be the Wii situation all over again...

the WIi U controller has all the buttons that other controllers have just an added screen for more possibilites...... Iwata already said they dont want to pressure devs to using the controller for many many features so i dont think its really a problem

Obvious that Microsoft console will be the easiest to work for and the most powerfull, its microsft after all they are a software company if their console was the most difficult to program then something was very wrong.
