Im sure you've been called a loser or a nerd. A lot of people think that gamers are just bunch of socially awkward nerds who cant get a date. and i partially agree with them. I do believe that people who play video games constantly are indeed "nerds" and "losers".  Seriosuly, how can people just sit all day and play games. I only play games on weekends for about an hour.  Like seriously this is not a troll or hate thread, i just wanna know why are there "some" gamers who play 24/7 non stop. And I'd like to ask you guys if you think they are considered "losers" or not.

I trust no one, not even myself.

I simply show them my Tetris high score.

That tend to scare them away.

Never met anyone who said that about me.

i show them uncharted 3 that immediately shuts them up

Video games are so mainstream now I think I'd be hard pressed to find someone who would say that. Indeed, I can't even think of a time where that has been said to me. Then again, I do other things than just play video games, though it certainly does take up a large percentage of my free time.

If you play video games "all the time" then you probably have some sort of problem, and if you don't already you probably will down the road since you're not developing any social skills by sitting inside by yourself all day getting into shouting matches with 8 year olds on XBL.

As for being nerdy, who gives a shit? I love nerdy things. Battlestar Galactica is my favourite TV series ever! I attained rank 1 on the worldwide Red Alert 2 ladder back in 2000! I won a local Golden Eye tournament at a store called Games Exchange back when I was in highschool! I used to play Magic The Gathering like a boss! I enjoy pro wrestling! However, I balanced it out by playing sports regularly, and not acting like a social leper.

Just don't waste so much time on any one thing that it ruins other aspects of your life. Once you're done school there's no such thing as "nerds" anyway, so do what makes you happy.

Almost eveyone I've ever met at my age plays games in some form.

I don't think there's that much of a nerd stigma to it anymore.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I can't remember the last time I was called a nerd. I play video games all the time and consider gaming by far my favourite interest/hobby. But I also have an active social life and other interests, and when people realize this it defeats any stereotype that may be attached to me due to my gaming habits. I imagine the same thing happens to most gamers.

And I wouldn't call someone who games 24/7 a loser, because hey, that's their thing and that's what they want to do. Why should I care?

I felt this a little when I was in Jr. High, but I was pretty socially awkward then. Let's put it this way, I had a couple of girls ask me out then and I didn't know what to do.

Since college I haven't felt this way. As Spurge said most people in the US play some sort of game or another now days. And a lot of people bought the Wii, opening up their eyes to not thinking games are for losers.

It's really just in the media and TV shows that I hear people who play games called nerds or losers, because they think of the 30 year old who lives in their parents' basement with that being all they do.

Times have changed. It also use to be that people who spent a lot of time on a computer were nerds, now that's the norm.

And why do I care about your opinion? - Because most who come up and insult other peoples hobbies usually don't know the person. And if I do know them. I just shrug and say "That's nice."
