Forums - Microsoft - Rare hiring for "multiple AAA future console releases"Would prefer action/adventure or FPS experience.

Following yesterday's revelation that Fable studio Lionhead is making an "MMO-like" RPG for the next Xbox, it has now emerged that Kinect Sports developer Rare is working on a raft of Durango games.

Rare is hiring for "multiple" triple-A games for the next Xbox, according to a job ad.

The job spec (spotted by Superannuation), calls for a senior product manager to help create "multiple AAA future console releases".

It suggests Rare will continue to make games in the successful Kinect Sports franchise, but also branch out with new IP. The listing says the candidate will ideally have experience in the action/adventure or FPS genres.

"Whilst continual development of their core releases will be maintained, the successful candidate will be joining at a time where the studio is looking to move into new areas and develop new IPs for future platforms," it reads.

"You will have a successful history of releasing exceptional AAA games and these will ideally be in the Action/Adventure or FPS genre but this is not essential."

Last month former Sega design chief Simon Woodroffe became the new creative director of Rare. "I am looking forward to getting stuck into making incredible games that will be worthy additions to the pedigree of the studio," he said at the time.

Rare has in recent years focused on Kinect Sports, but over the years has released a number of Xbox games for owner Microsoft, including Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Viva Pinata and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

We've asked Rare for comment.

Sounds like Rare is finally back on track! Ever since they joined MS they've done crap games, so it's nice to hear that they're gonna go what they do best: action oriented games!

And I'm kinda psyched to see what Lionhead studios are working on! I enjoyed Fable 2, but it left some things to wish for... And a "MMO-like" RPG sounds like just the right thing to lure me into getting a NextBox =D Next gen's gonna ge awesome!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I hope that M$'s first party studios will release many games in the early years of NextBox when good games are needed the most.

CONKER!!! HEY RARE. CONKER!!! Look I play the remake made for xbox on my 360 actually just popped it back in 2 days ago.

I hope this is the case. They need to put some game out that are not Kinect. I like Kinect but love my hardcore games too.

Again?! This is just not true.

Kameo was a really great game! Probably one of the most underrated this gen.
Banjo and Perfect Dark remakes were well executed.
Kinect Sports  and Kinect Sports 2 are good games.
Banjo Kazooie Nuts n Bolts is a good game as well.
Viva Pinata is not that bad either.

However, Perfect Dark Zero and Grabbed by the Ghoulies were disappointing, but that is not enough to say that they only released crap games.

When you check metacritic you will see that their games are in the same region like InFamous, Infamous2, Warhawk, Starhawk and Twisted Metal and people praise these titles. They just seem to have a different target audience and the internet-core-gamer feels left out so he starts talking nonsense. And saleswise the Kinect Sports franchise alone is outperforming all of these games combined.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

BANJO THREEIE!!!!!

Remakes don't count... That's like giving credit to Grezzo for making Zelda: OoT. The gameplay and design were all laid out - all they do is hotting up the graphics.

And yes, Kinect sports are good and fun games - but I remember the days of the 90's when Rare used to release awesome games, games people still play today.

Have a look at this list: Donkey Kong Country, Battletoads, Golden eye 007, Conker, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, Wizard and Warriors - and that's just a few of em...

Now have a look at this: Viva Piñata and Kinect Sports... that's almost all their new IP's the last 7 years... Conker and Banjo all dates back to the Nintendo days, so don't credit MS with those...

It's painfully obvious that Rare ain't the same anymore! But I hope they find their stride again!!
