I think they have done a misstake with not releasing it for the PS3 because this game sold better in europe then in NA, and the Playstation dominates the eruopean market.

No, they didn't make any mistakes. Porting the game from the PC to the XBox 360 was a lot more cost effective. The PC and 360 pretty much has the same O/S. This allowed CD Projekt to test the game console market without spending a huge amount of money. The game should sell well in both the U.S. and European markets on the XBox 360. It should easily sell over 1 million by the end of the year. It would cost them much more money and definitely a lot more time trying to port the game to the PS3 and they weren't going to make it from scratch on that platform, that's for sure. We all know how well ports run on the PS3. Blah!!.

Just got it yesterday and it's amazing, I don't know why everyone is saying 250k is not good, it's amazing for their xbox debut considering it's a year old game and took no cost to develope

250K is actually very good for it's first week considering just about everyone already owns it on the PC (especially in Europe). This is also the slowest time of the year for game sales. Usually year old ports coming off the PC don't sell very well on game consoles. So, I'm pretty sure CD Projekt is happy with the initial numbers sold. I think it will break 1 million before the end of the year.

Well considering the Witcher 2 "only" sold a bit more than 1.1m on PC in 2011, and 400k first week, I guess 250k for the 360 port is pretty good.

250K for a year old port in one week is not bad, not bad at all.

Now take into account how easy it would have been for them to port a 360 game to PS3, which, even though it has a different architecture is actually pretty easy for other development teams whereas the port from PC to 360 is much more doable, and probably cost them less, but that's not the point here. It's also their first console venture, but taking risks can be fun, and they could even outsource it to a different development team based in poland (It's cheaper than say, a US company), that way they won't be investing more than needed by doing it themselves.

Fixed for you :)

PC -> X360 -> PS3, another port venture? to what end? Without the guarantee that the game would be a success on 360 in the first place, to what end would they spend even more capital to port to PS3? 360 likes WRPG's, Skyrim is a much bigger success in US and it's numbers are close in Europe despite the usual difference in numbers, in favour of PS3. Whichever way you look at it, the porting to 360 seemed like a more viable and safer option. I'd be interesting to know if any US companies would be willing to pick up the port, as year old ports tend not to sell blockbusters.. Risks or not, they're not exactly the biggest or well known developers, obviously did what they can afford and had time for.

How much did this bad boy sell on PC to date?

Wonder if 360 sales will overtake it in a year's time.

I wouldn't discount it yet, there is a slim chance it may take off. For example I was not expecting the numbers Skyrim managed to pull. Game still may surprise as it's a pretty solid WRPG.

I wasn't surprised about Skyrim's sales...
More surprised that Fallout 3 didn't destroy Oblivion in sales.

Its already had a better start than PC, I think it has a chance to overtake PC sales LT.

No PC WRPG sales would normally be able to touch 360 sales, this game should be no exception. At the very least, they are set for a good console launch for Witcher 3.
