I think this is great news. Honestly, I'd have a team from SSM focus on an FPS and see what they could do, and move Guerilla games onto something else. That's not to say that Killzone hasn't been mostly great, but it hasn't - and probably won't - be the massive success that Sony need it to be. Give SSM a chance to see if they can make an FPS hit for Sony.

I also think (this is slightly off topic) that Sony should try and acquire another studio in Japan to work on a JRPG franchise. They have Japan Studio working with Level-5 but White Knight Chronicles wasn't really the game they needed it to be. I think Sony are sitting on a goldmine of franchises - Alundra, Arc the Lad, Wild ARMs etc. - or even a new one, that they could create.

Then again, I think Sony first-party franchises have been great this gen, so who am I to complain!

I think this game could be a replacement for Resistance, which is to be honest dying.

Yep, even with Insomniac ditching it, it was on some pretty shaky legs with Resistance 3.  A shame too - it wasn't revolutionary, but the games were a lot of fun.

With all this said, what Sony really needs is a Halo.  An iconic FPS franchise which is accessible but deep.  I hope SSM can make something like that.
