How do you play Melia? I heard she can topple characters on her own and that she has great dps. I have been trying the water, lighting, duplicate thing but I haven't been impressed.

Also I have noticed that you can kill enemies by spear breaking them off a cliff. So far I have only been doing the Gogols, but I have heard you can kill the white hox the same way. I tried it on them but they didn't die from the fall.

Anyone know how topple locking works? What gems and gear should I use. I am only like 47 but I would very much enjoy killing a Deinos. The video I saw they did it with the characters in their underwear. I think they used Dunban, Shulk, and Reyn.

So far it has been pretty fun.

Re: Melia, her dps elements (fire, ice, earth) will come shortly. Initially her only real ether attack is lightning (aqua blows), which is still worth looking into due to most enemies' low ether resistance. Ignore Aqua, focus on the other elements, and keep in mind that her auto-topple requires two separate skills (Spear Break is the first, I believe). As you level up her skills you'll find that you can pump out ether attacks as quickly as you can select them.

Regarding topple locking, you're going to want to focus on Topple Plus gems on your toppler(s), level up the topple and break skills, and use skill links to maximize both topple damage and chain attacks. If you're figthing something that's way above your level, try to also maximize your agility and your tension: if either one is low, you'll be missing quite a bit, and there goes the topple lock. It helps to have your chain attack already built up when you enter the battle. Beyond that, just focus on toppling the enemy ASAP, then maximize damage while it's down (to build up your chain attack again). Rinse and repeat. Just don't panic if the topple wears off: enemies have an animation they go through after they're toppled, and they can't attack until they complete it. This usually buys you the extra second or three you need to "keep" it locked.

I got Colony 6 up to level 5 last night after finally finding those liver beans. I'm not sure whether to keep grinding so that I can beat the level 95+ monsters in Tephra Cave and complete a quest in there or just go for the end. I'm on Prison Island right now. Most of the monsters are pretty far below me so I've had no problem so far. I think I'm getting close to the Prison Island boss now.

I finally got some time to play it the other day, but my Wii has problems reading the disk =(
I know the disk is fine because it worked once, but after that I haven't been able to play it again. Has someone suffered the same? Looking in google it seems it's the same problem Smash Bros had, but I don't have a problem with that game or Metroid Prime Trilogy either, just with Xenoblade.

Beat the game a couple days ago.

Wasn't hard enough, I stopped all sides quests except a few 'kill 5 enemy' types that only gave cash anyway, only completed them if the monsters were in my way between me and the objective marker.

I was using Sharla and Reyn up until you get Riki then swapped to Dunban and Riki, then ditched Riki once Fiora returns as party member, then used her and Dunban for rest of the game, between them both dodging very well, being set for damage more than anything with only a couple aura dodge bonus or heals (with aura-heal gem bonus) and Shulks crappy heal I walked over pretty much every enemy for the entire game.  Sharla seems pretty pointless with all those healing skills and debuff removals, didn't need any of them.

The only boss that gave me any trouble was the Dragon right near the end.  Mainly because it was a few levels higher than my party and hitting it was causing serious damage to all my party members thanks to its aura, it would resist the Monando aura-remover 75% of the time and I nneded hit it several times to refill monando guage and try again.   But I killed it 4th try and didn't grind or anything to make the fight easier and stuck with the same party rather than switch in perhaps more appropiate party members (because 2 characters with super fast auto attacks probaby wasn't the best idea for a damage aura like that).  All other bosses killed first go except the boss inside the heart, died once because failed to noticed 4 more elemental things spawned right behind party leader.

Anyway, no challenge to the game and I had to actively avoid doing sidequests and griding just to get the little challenge I did.  Bad design there.

I occasionally swap about party leaders but until you reach a point where Monando enchant is no longer needed to damage mechon - pretty sure this is never explained btw, I just suddenly didn't need it anymore, I was pretty much forced to play as Shulk because his AI is just so crap and he never uses correct powers when needed.  Another bad design element at work there.  Shulk has his own sets of arts, that is enough for him, for the Monado powers should of gave everyone access to a menu with them since storywise Shulk is there even if not active member of the party.

I liked all the characters except Melia, she just seems crap in every way, I expected to dislike Riki but I found him funny.  Music had some good tracks, some boring ones too, story was good too, plus is a very long game just sticking to main quest.

Don't like the endgame content that is offered, farming for items isn't fun, nor is hunting pick-ups, getting top affinity between party members is another grind.  Lot of the achievements are grinds.  Oh, the game suffers some awful slowdown at times, the final boss was especially awful as was the fight inside the Bionis heart

Overall still a very enjoyable game, worth the money paid.  Will I ever play through it again?  Probably not, but I'd rate it as one of my most enjoyed JRPGs, they all just lack replay value.

Finally someone else mentions the Dragon.

The enemies with Spike were all major dicks (you across the pond might know them as wankers), no matter what precautions you took to deal with them

225 hours and....... I'm done. Finished today. They final battles were a bit of a yawn at level 93 but I got my challenge from the high level monsters that appear late in the game (and most of my levels too)

Great game. There was still a shitload more to do but I figured I'd move on.

Good job mothman and kyliedog! I'm glad you both enjoyed it!

We finished it again to check out the ending movies, how'd you find that?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Gah. After 5 battery changes, 2 Classic controllers, 59 hours, and 1 really spaced out time playing I have finally beat this amazing game. Wish that I had the motivation to put up the grey boxes to point out the moments I liked in the game though I need to pack. All the side bosses were nice distractions and those that popped out were surprising. I loved the ending and will probably try to 100% it next year. I hope that Monolith Soft will make another great RPG with the Wii U and I am now more than ever glad that this game had eventually reached the the states. Sucks that I can't play TLS till probably december and that I know I probably should had spent the time playing and completing my used games list and making videos but man am I so glad I played and enjoyed this game.

p.s. My sister's dog ate up the cord of CCN yesterday and today I bought a new black CCP. UUGGG. I need that money for my Wii U.

Hey guys! It's been a long time since I was in here last time, 'cos I don't wanna spoil the game even a little =) sadly I've unfortunately seen a few glimpse when my gf's been playin' - but nothing major.

Anyways, I'd like to ask for some help!

I've just battled Xord and entered the other side of Colony 6, which means I now can chose to have Dunban on my team. The little I've seen here indicates that Reyn isn't any good from this point onwards. Should I change and play as Dunban? And how should I customize each character? Sharla obviously should be some form of healer, but how do I optimize them all? I'm not used to play JRPG's so I don't know anything at all about these kind of things.

Just some quick hints will do just fine!

Thanks!!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Playable Dunban isn't a spoiler.

Dunban cannot tank, at least not early on. Reyn will always be a good tank (and still, imo, preferable to Dunban for that purpose later on). Dunban's got some skills that later on can help you maximize dodging and party healing without a healer, but that's later, and that's still a strategy that i never favored (<3 Sharla)
