Forums - Gaming Discussion - Crytek: ‘PC is our next-generation, way ahead of other next-gen platforms

So Crysis 2 flopped.

Around the Network

Good news, Crysis 2 was a massive step backward from 1, let's hope they keep the confidence to focus on the strengths of the PC above all else.

Spot on. If Crysis 2 had sold a gizillion on the consoles it would have been a different story.

Something like "Consoles and PCs are our next generation, both equal to each other".

Still can't blame them, it's all about the money afterall.

No lost for us console gamers anyway. Yeah they can do great graphics but that's about it.

PC gaming doesn't have generations, just graphics card replacements.

i would say it has. sure every 18 month or so we get new gpu's but the next big graphical jump on  pc will come with the next consoles. most differences between pc and console games are higher res, better lightning and so on but the levels itself look the same (same amount of interior in a buidling for example)

when the next gen console games come out, we will see much bigger jump for pc games as well because battlefield 4 on console will be a big jump to 3, it will be a big jump on pc as well which wouldn't be the case without new consoles^^

That is mostly due to devs being limited by the consoles and not bothering making the PC version superior. Some of it is due to new research though, which new console cycles stimulate

yes i know, that's why i said it. for me, a new console generation is like a new pc generation as well because multi games will profit a lot on pc as well and even pc only games will profit because of new techniques only made because of new consoles.

Graphics cards do have generations though, and so do CPUs and most of the other stuff.

It evolves the games, not the spirit of gaming. Consoles are a caspule of time with each console you play. Every console with its own style of games represents a style, time and more. PC's as I've said before aren't solely made for gaming, so you can only see things from a technical perspective. I would not be in awe of the PC the way I would be an atari and gauge the evolution from that to now.

This guy probably works at Crytek
