The grave of fireflies is an must see but can be very shocking ..

Also finally saw the smurfs and Tintin.. Didn't enjoyed the first one except for the opening when you see the village but for the rest if felt like a child movie. Tintin I enjoyed even when it felt different than the comic/cartoon and I really look forward to the next one.

Btw one that is an must see aswell is 'My name is Khan' =p. It is my number 1 movie of all time because the movie is so well made. Their are not that many movies where I laugh, smile, be sad, be getting angry, make me cry and made feel like a different person after watching it =p. Just recommending it because their are so many who never have heard of it so yeah check it out (great family/gf/bf movie)..

Check the trailer if you have no clue what I am talking about:

Thanks for the tip. I finally caved in and signed up for Netflix and am about to watch this. $39 is a bit steep for the dvd release. $7 for a 48 hour rental on Zune, might as well try out Netflix.
I miss the days of Blockbuster in Canada, they had an excellent documentary and international movie section with full week rentals for $4 each. Now I have to keep a close eye on my monthly download limit and search through 4 online services hoping 1 of them has it, so much more convenient....

I recently watched Up in the air on Showtime HD. Never heard of it before and it was a pleasant surprise. Great acting. That channel has some good movies occasionally, The book of Eli was a nice surprise too. If there ever would be a Fallout 3 the movie, that would be it.
It has utter crap too unfortunately. Recently there was Stonehenge apocalypse, so bad it became funny.

Loll Stonehedge apacolypse? So.. the druids version of 2012?

I really enjoyed the book of Eli as well. Something I missed though, was he blind?

Stonehenge turns out to be some ancient terraforming device that decides to re-terraform the earth by sending EM pulses to ancient monuments (pyramids, angor wat etc) that then 'open up' and unleash super volcanos.

I'm not sure if he was blind it never actually stated one way or the other. It's possible. I don't know why the other guy was so devastated that it was in braille though, it's not a tough code to crack... Doesn't really matter for the movie in the end, the premise was quite silly to begin with.

I would never go watch that movie again! Bleh, I wasted enough of my time watching it. (Sorry if I offended anyone.) I find that movie boring. And haven't they gotten enough money from that movie already?

i just watched Camel Spiders and it was awful!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

So Stonehenge was there to help destroy the Earth....... :)

It has been a while since I forced myself to watch a cheesy movie. Used to do it all the time, but hardly have the stomach for it anymore.

Sometimes you find a hidden gem with the emphasis on sometimes :)
Riverworld (2003 version) was very enjoyable, a lot better then the average Micheal Bay flick. It probably helped that I never read the book and expected the worst.
I thought the same of Alice (2009), a fun spin on the classic tale. It's a shame I can't get syfy channel here.
My favorite version of Alice is by Jan Svankmajer, a surreal stop motion version.

I forgot about it during the 80's thread.
Here are some pictures and a clip

Recently saw:

John Carter - I enjoyed it for the most part but the movie dragged on a bit. I feel as though it could have been much better. Anyways i still liked it :)

Wrath of the titans - Hmmm pretty much the same as the last one, but if you go and watch this movie you know what type of movie it will be and you shouldnt expect anything more(or less!). Great visuals and effects! Some nice action scenes too. Did anyone else feel like they kinda ripped off GOW3 here? I would say that the story and the movie in general is a bit worse than the first one (which i thought genuinely had a better storyline and told the story much better as well).

The lorax - nice movie, nice use of 3D too. I wouldnt say it was a animated classic like kung fuu panda 1 and despicable me, but never the less its a good movie that has a message behind it. The movie is short too...so if you end up not liking it then it will be done before you know it.

Its been a dry two months for movies imo...no real standouts for me. I was hoping The hunger games would of been released here in SA before the easter weekend but alas its only releasing next week friday

Trying to get my family to agree on going to see this tonight, but I will probably be pushed into seeing something horrible.

They want to see Mirror Mirror. I will not die from it, but I do not care to see it.

Anyone else see it>?

haha! Goodluck with that spurgeon :)

Are you even old enough to go watch the hunger games?
