Forums - General Discussion - Sony cashing in on Whitney Houston's death

source

Sony Music has come under fire after it increased the price of a Whitney Houston album on Apple's iTunes Store hours after the singer was found dead.

The music giant is understood to have lifted the wholesale price of Houston's greatest hits album, The Ultimate Collection, at about 4am California time on Sunday. This meant that the iTunes retail price of the album automatically increased from £4.99 to £7.99.

Why do people pirate, again? I forgot the reasons.

This happens after every big recording artists death. That being said, it doesn't make it right. But Sony isn't the first to do this, and they won't be the last.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

I notice it being Sony more than any other company. I believe they did this with Michael Jackson as well, but I can't be 100% sure about that.

Previously, it would be justified due to supply and demand, on physical medias.

Now, it's all digital so the supply issue is none-existent. It's difficult to justify that.

sony vultures profiteering off the death of another dead singer. celebrity singer/actor's death results in a huge boost in sales for a week or two. corporations unethically profiteer off the deaths of celebrities time and time again. there is no ethics and absolutely no morals when it comes to businesses in pursuit of bigger profits.

well Sony needs all the money it can get these days...

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Those Sony guys are so evil. All 200,000 of them.

I wouldn't know. I don't keep track of these things, but it's possible. I do know Sony music is huge so maybe they have a lot of big artists signed?
