I have argued time and time again that there are no such things as "System Sellers" because even the largest series only have a minor impact in immediate and long term system sales; most of the impact in sales will have already been factored into current sales.

There are also many games that have been listed for the PS3 and XBox 360 which will not sell 1 Million units; my predictions for these games would be Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Tekken 6, Singstar, Halo Wars, Too Human, Alan Wake, and Left 4 Dead.

You forgot to mention Gears of War as one of this gen's system sellers. Most of the people I know that have 360's bought them solely for Gears. Gears 2 won't be a big system seller though, as 99% of Gears fans already have a 360.

Probably the most ridiculous suggestion, which has been echoed by a lot of people, is that Halo Wars will be a system seller. There are at least 3 reasons why it DEFINITELY will not move systems:

1.) Everybody interested in the Halo franchise bought a 360 when Halo 3 came out.
2.) There is very little crossover between FPS fans and RTS fans.
3.) Strategy games on consoles are always absolute sh*t.

A lot of the others are pretty far-fetched as well: Too Human (development hell), Splinter Cell: Conviction (previous instalments didn't shift xbox), Left 4 Dead (Valve fans prefer PC, 360 FPS saturation); Killzone 2 & LBP may have a slight effect due to all the hype, but it will depend on review scores and word of mouth.

Resistance 2 will be out this year, Insomniac have never taken 2 years on a games (certainly since PS1) and they have stated it for this year. And there is a tiny chance of FF XIII this year in Japan

Resistance 2 will be out this year, Insomniac have never taken 2 years on a games (certainly since PS1) and they have stated it for this year. And there is a tiny chance of FF XIII this year in Japan

 


Insomniac may not go a year without releasing a game, but I guarantee you it takes them longer than a year to make a full game. Unless Resistance 2 is just going to be a map pack, there's no way you're going to see that game in 2008.

Also, lol at the people who are still holding onto hope for FFXIII in 2008.

And the reason why they release a game a year is because they have multiple teams. I know people that work there and I've even interviewed for a job there and I know this as a fact (multiple teams that is, know nothing about Resistance 2).

 Do you not think that Halo Wars will sell a million just because it has the word Halo in it? Because I do, even though I know nothing about the game.


 

Well, I should clarify ... I wouldn't be too surprised to see some of those games to be Million sellers, but I suspect most will not.

It's a cumulative thing.   Maybe one of those games alone might not be able to sell systems but when people start seeing 2 or 3 or however many games appeal to them on a console they don't own it obviously has an impact on the chances of them eventually buying one (especially with price drops).

As for the games you mentioned that you don't think will sell a million, I think Killzone 2, Halo Wars, Too Human, Alan Wake, and Left 4 Dead will.
