Don't forget the PC MMO!

There's also a manga and an anime series. So yeah, Ragnarok is quite well known.

Yes, the MMO is how I first heard of Ragnarok several years ago. I remember being surprised when I saw the DS game come out as I thought of the series as an MMO.

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

But the good of Vita edition is that's a new game within the universe of the series... and developed by some great artist of the gaming...

If you just want to argue for the sake of arguing, then I am out. I can wait. Time makes more converts than reason, so once you see that the PSV can't become successful without a price cut, you'll be more willing to listen.

You don't get what he's saying.

He means it's the big guns that count more than the price itself. Had Sony the bigs guns Nintendo has (Mario Kart, Mario, Wii Sports, Big Brain), and offered them as of launch throughout the launch year, there would be no need for a price cut on Vita.

The only problem is, since Sony doesn't have those big guns, you will most probably end up being right, but for the wrong reason.

I perfectly got what he is saying. Not even Nintendo could have been successful with a $250 handheld beyond the short term. Expecting the PSV to do well at $250/$300 if only it had the right games coming out is pretty much the same as believing the PS3 could have been a huge hit at $500 or more if only Sony and third parties got out all the big hits in time. As long as price remains a barrier, you cannot expect massmarket penetration; and most people aren't willing to suddenly pay more than their norm for a gaming system when they know that the price will eventually come down.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

We don't know that, because Nintendo were stupid enough to launch the system when there was nothing worth buying on it.

As I said earlier, if they'd have launched it late October/early November with a launch lineup of Nintendogs, Layton, Zelda + 3rd party stuff and had 3D Mario/Monster Hunter + more 3rd party stuff for December... Followed by the early 2012 hitters + Mario Kart in the Quarter, as they planned it, then the games would have been there for people to think "Oh. Mario, Monsters, Puppies and Kittens, Karts, Zombies, Puzzles and an old Ocarina? Yeah. That's worth $250."

Instead people were saying "Oh. Puzzles, Puppies, Kittens and an old Ocarina? Sounds ni- What? $250? Nah."

It very true, we can't tell if 3ds failure at launch was exactly due to price/software or the factor of 2.
But 1 thing is true for the ps vita, is that it fails on both.
People often say software makes the system but there is really more than just that.
A lot of other factors contribute to the success of the system.

The 3DS has still problems at $170 (as February and March NPDs will show), so there's no reason to believe that it would have done well with all the same games and a $250 price tag.

That can be blamed on the Vita being released, stealing some of the interest... And of course, them having to rush Mario Kart into the Holidays. It would have been the big killer app for the first Quarter for them.
