That´s very good news, a personal account system was needed, and with this confirmation, we can be a little more sure that Nintendo has learned from their mistakes and it´s willing to take some risk to catch up with the times.... good for them and good for us too.

That is very true but some consumers might get confused with the Wii and Wii U. Just like some of them did with the DS and 3DS. It's odd, I know.

Odd that they deigned to allow this information out merely at an investor meeting. Their investors must be incredibly pissed for Nintendo to be so forthcoming about details

Although from what i've recently learned in my Japanese Anthropology class, apparently investors hold relatively little power here compared to the West, so who knows?

i like the name as it is though

they just need a commercial and in it they should say "from the makers of Wii, we bring you WiiU the next step in entertainment bla bla"

just make the console look different than Wii and there will be no confusion

Being that it is rumored that Microsoft's next system is "only" 6 times as powerful as the XBox 360 (and that would put them roughly in the range of the Wii U's performance), and Sony needs to keep costs associated to releasing a console way down which will probably translate into a pretty modest technology bump, depending on what you mean by "real next gen console" you could be waiting a very long time
